I know it wasn't the fairest idea. I know it was sort of cheap. But...
I bribed my way onto the football team.
My dad, he LOVES football, and he would have been really angry if I didn't make the high school team.
I didn't.
So I found some money and paid the coach to treat me like a star player, so that my dad would be happy.... And not hit me as much.
I remember when I was in elementary school and he signed me up for football. I told him I didn't want to play it and he slapped me in the face. I've played football ever since.
I'm not proud of what I did, but I've improved enough that I know I'm technically an okay player. If I were to do tryouts over, I would actually make the team this time.
But I can't do it over, not now that I'm a senior. There's no way I'm going to get a football scholarship, and I don't know what I'm going to do about my dad. I've thought about moving out as soon as I turn 18, but I spent most of my life savings on the bribe, and I still want to go to college.
And about my dad, I know a lot of people would be disgusted and shocked that he hits me all the time, but he just wants me to do my best, and he loves me.
