Two Weeks Later

I was drinking a cup of coffee in Starbucks listening to the sounds of everyday life, people noisily slurping on their drink, others asking where their coffee was because they had been waiting and people getting frustrated waiting in line. I didn’t notice someone sitting across from me.

“Hello there. What’s a lady like you sitting all alone?” the person asked. I looked up to see who was talking to me; he had bluish grey eyes and blond hair, he looked like one of those jocks you see in American high schools.

“And you are?” I asked and my eyebrow rose. He didn’t look like he expected that from me. Rolling my eyes I stood up and picked up my bag, my coffee which was now cold still in hand.

“Hey, hey no need to leave, we can still make the most of this situation.” He said winking. I scoffed; I didn’t have time for silly boys like him I had to be at work in twenty minutes.

“Go find someone else to annoy, I’m taken.” I stated, leaving him there and walking away. I continued my walk to work throwing away my cold coffee. Ed Sheeran’s song ‘Cold Coffee’ came to mind and I began humming its melody.

My phone started ringing and I hastily looked for it. You can never find a phone when it’s ringing, I thought. What seemed like an hour later, I found my phone. Unfortunately it had stopped so I checked my call log. Harry called you one minutes ago. Harry called me.

Did I tell you we are dating? Well we are! He asked me only a few days ago. We were taking a walk in the park…

Harry was wearing another disguise, massive glasses and a wig.

“Can I ask you a question? It’s a big question,” I nodded. He seemed nervous and agitated.

“Sure! What is it?” I walked over to a bin and dropped my cold coffee in the bin. I turned around and jumped. Harry was right in front of me.

“Oh! Harry give us some space won’t ya? What’s so important about this question that you can’t wait till I move from the bin? C’mon.” I said jokingly.

“Follow me. C’mon,” We walked around the park until we reached an empty field.

“So what was that question again?” I asked him.

“Look up.” He said smiling. His smile was so wide it was becoming creepy, giving him a confused look I glanced upwards.

‘I REALLY LIKE YOU. WILL YOU BE MY GIRLFRIEN”

“Harry!” I said my voice breaking. Then reality dawned, “where’s the ‘d’ at the end?” I asked laughing.

“Oh. About that, the sentence was too long… so err it wouldn’t fit. I hope you don’t mind.”

But all questions were eradicated from his mind as I pushed my lips against him. As he pulled away from me, I opened my eyes to find him staring directly into them. My mouth had gone dry and as I tried to swallow, I felt butterflies in my stomach as if it was a snow globe that was just shaken.

“That was better than the answer I was expecting.” I threw my arms around him embracing him in a hug.

“I really like you.” I mumbled into his shoulder.

A bird cawing jolted me out of my memory, thankfully this happened just before I walked into a lampost. My phone began ringing it again and thankfully I was able to answer it on time.

“Hey Harry…”
