Marinette's nerves were at an all time high, she was about to ask Adrien Agreste to the Winter Formal, which was a big deal around campus! She could see him standing with Nino, laughing about something, and looking as flawless (clawless!) as ever. Alya continued to guide Marinette over to the two boys and Marinette continued to follow, even though she was freaking out.
"Hey Nino, Hey Adrien!" Alya said, smiling.
"Hey!" the boys responded in unison.
"Nino, could you come over to the water fountain with me for a sec? I need to tell you something..." Alya whispered to Nino, then dragged him away with her.
"So, A-Adrien, I have a q-question..." Marinette stuttered, blushing already.
"Yes?" Adrien asked, curiously.
"W-would you maybe go t-to the Winter Formal w-with me?" Marinette rolled the words off her tongue, stuttering, as fast as she could.
"Um...well, you see, I have plans...that night. And I can't go at all, but believe me, I'd love to be able to...but I just can't, sorry." Adrien said, then walked away. Leaving Marinette speechless, and feeling stupid. Marinette ran home, tears building up and rolling down her cheeks.
