Chapter two

Robs P.O.V

Its a funny thing with my kind, we can sense our mate when in close proximity of the individual, even their smell is more appealing to us. It's how I knew that the new student was my mate when he walked into chemistry and why I didn't let him see me looking at him, I needed to check him out first.

As I let go of Aaron he looked at me like he was looking right through me, then he collapsed I wasn't fast enough to catch him and he hit the ground hard,

"Aaron!!" I called, I winced at the sight of him hitting the ground.

I knelt down at his side lifting him gently, carrying him bridal style to the nurses office,

"Help, help please he collapsed in the hall" I laid him on the bed while the nurse checked his vitals then rushed of to call an ambulance,

the ambulance arrived quickly and stabilised him before placing him inside the ambulance and taking off,

the nurse was trying to get some answers out of me about how this happened but I was more interested if Aaron was going to be ok,

"Hello? Robert? We need to know what happened to Aaron?" She asked

"I don't know? I really don't know........." I said trailing off

"We need to call his parents to let them know what has happened to their son" she exclaimed to her fellow school nurse.

I walked out of the school and towards my car before I heard her speaking to Aaron's mother,

I jumped into my car and headed for the hospital.

I arrived a short time after, jumping out the car I ran inside the hospital.

I sniffed the air (oh did I mention I'm a 163 year old Vampire) and caught a familiar scent,

as I followed the scent trail I was caught of guard by a passing nurse, she bumped into me

"Excuse me are you meant to be down here?" She asked me

"Erm I'm looking for someone, they have just been brought in" I say a little too fast,

"Did you go to reception to check which room they are in?" She asked

"No, no I didn't" I say feeling a little stupid,

"Well, it's down the corridor on your right" she advises me

"Thank you" I say before heading for the reception desk.

"Hi I'm looking for my friend, he was just brought in" I say to the lady behind the desk,

"Ok what's his name hun?" She asks,

"Aaron, Aaron Matthews" I say starting to get a bit upset with the waiting,

"Oh yes, he's............down the hall in room c112" I thank her and head back the way I came, I could have just followed the scent.

I got to the room and looked though the door, he was laying on the hospital bed with an oxygen mask on and hooked up to some fluids.

"Hello there" someone said from behind me making me spin round

"Are you here to see this patient?" He asks

"Yes doctor, how is he?" I ask panic in my voice,

"He has a mild concussion and two broken ribs but he will be just fine" the doctor said

"Oh thank god, thank you doctor" I said before entering the room and walking up to Aaron's bed.

All of a sudden the door burst open, standing there was a very worried Mrs Matthews, I could tell by her scent that she was Aaron's family.

She ran in and practically pushed me aside, "what happened to him!?!" She yelled,

I explained the whole story to her and what was wrong with him, something caught my eye,

His hand twitched...

Aaron's P.O.V

All I can see around me is darkness, I'm scared and I don't know what to do. I can hear mumbling but can't make anything out, I start to panic and shout but I can't move!

The voices begin to get clearer and I can make out my mums worried tone, but there's someone else, I recognise the voice but can't put a face to it?

It's....Rob? Why is he here?

All of a sudden I felt like I was being lifted, I managed to twitch my hand, then my eyes opened.

After blinking the mist away from in front of my eyes, I saw my mother sitting on the bed side dry tears on her face but she was smiling at me. I returned her smile with my own weak one, looking to my left I saw rob sitting on a chair.

"W-what.....what are y-you doin-ng here?" I manage to get out of my sore throat, mum walked away and I gave her a where-are-you-going look but she didn't see me.

"Aaron you collapsed right in front of me?" Rob said with a worried look in his eyes,

"oh..." I said blushing from embarrassment mainly...

Mum returned with a cup of water and handed it to me after rob sat me up which I didn't expect, although he did so gently. I couldn't help the whimper that escaped my lips with the pain in my ribs,

"Sorry" he apologised,

"It's okay.." I said before taking a sip of the cold crisp water that felt heavenly going down my throat.

"Hmmm" I moan with pleasure.

"Your awake I see" a mans voice spoke,

I looked up to fine a tall man in a white coat, that must mean he's the doctor,

"Yeah" I said taking another sip of my water,

"Good, now lets check your vitals" he said walking to the base of the bed.

"Tell me when you feel this" he said touching my foot,

I nod "yes I feel that" I say,

"Can you move your feet and wiggle you toes" he asks and I do so without a problem,

Slowly he makes his way towards my chest placing his hand on my ribs i jump and cry out in pain, he took his hand away and I'm sure I just herd rob... Growl? No I can't have? Could I?

"Sorry Aaron I don't mean to cause you any discomfort" he apologised

"it's fine..." I was cut of by rob

"WELL BE MORE CARFUL NEXT TIME!" He shouted at the doc, he saw me looking at him shocked and gave me a wink, that shocked me even more but I didn't show it,

The doc left after a few more tests then said we can leave tonight which I was grateful for.

All day I kept sneaking glances at rob who still hasn't left me,

mum went home to get me some more clothes while rob stayed with me almost like he is guarding me or something.

We pulled up outside the house.
I slowly got out and headed for the door still very shaky on my feet, as I looked towards the forest that surrounded the back of my house I saw a dark shadow with piercing yellow eyes,

Shaking my head i must be seeing things. I quickly entered the house with my mum and went to my room,

Laying on my bed I felt my eye-lids becoming heavy and sleep invited me with open arms.
