Chapter 4: New Beginnings

Chapter 4

*Trent's P.O.V.*

I felt like a new dad as I paced back and forth in the barn, waiting for the vet to let me know how Windy was doing. It had been about three and a half weeks since the last time he had fully examined her other then just the routine once a week check up and at this point she was due any day.  

" Well." Tim the vet spoke, but pausing. " Well what Tim? Come on you are killing me here." I chuckled. " Well, your girl is going to be a Mamma with in the next twenty-four hours." He informed. 

" Seriously?" I asked as excitement filled me. "Yep. So if you have any worries or concerns, just give me a call and I will fly right over, if I don't hear from ya I will be over around this time tomorrow." Tim notified. "sounds great Tim, thank you!!" I greeted. " Well alright, let me go take a look at that Ms. Jewels now. You said she was doing great right?" He inquired. " Oh yeah she seems to be doing wonderful." I replied as we walked to Tims truck and hopped in before he took off and drove up to the house.

"Guess what Em?" I asked as I walked in the door with Tim. Jewels Growled as she came over sniffing Tim all over. She was quite framiliar with him as he was her vet and he had been coming over often now, but she still had to make sure he was okay and that he wasn't going to hurt anybody. " Good girl Jewels." I praised which helped her relax immediatly. " So what is going on with Windy?" Emily asked. " Well she is going to be having her baby sometime with in the next twenty-four hours." I informed with a smile. " Awesome!! I can't wait!!" Emily exclaimed. "So we are going to have to get all our pillows and blankets together and camp out in the barn tonight Sweetheart." I relayed as I helped sooth Jewels so Tim could examine her. " Okay I will start on that now then." Emily said immediatly walking into the bedroom. "How she doing Doc?" I asked as Tim checked Jewels incision. 

"Well everything seems to be good, I just want to draw some blood and send it in to make sure all of her counts are good." Tim supplied. " Okay, go ahead I will hold her head." I agreed. Tim shave a part of Jewels paw before putting the needle in and drawing some blood causing Jewels to squirm, but I continued holding her down until he was able to get it done. " Alright then this should be back by tomorrow when I come to check on Windy and her baby and I will let you know then." He informed as he stood up. "Okay, we will see ya then" I agreed as I also got up off the floor and walked over to get Jewels a treat for being a good girl.

" Hey Sweetheart, Tim left so I am going to run up to Aunt Elaine's house and then check on the pups and everything, but I will be right back." I lied, but only because I needed to go up to my Aunts and let her know that their had been a change of plans. My Aunt was in the process of making a special dinner for Emily and I to celebrate the one month anniversary of me rescuing her and it was a suprise. " Okay, I will be here." She replied.

I jumped out of the truck and ran into My aunts with my nerves on edge, letting her know the good news about windy and that the plans had changed as far as dinner went before heading to the barn and getting everything ready for our speacial night. I wraked out two clearings, set a table complete with a table cloth and unlit candles, two chairs and a CD player over in the corner of the room along with my guitar.Two hours later, Once I was sure everything was just right, I checked on Windy making sure there was no immediate signs that she was delivering and then headed back to my Aunts to let her know she could deliver the food and light the candles in about an hour.

"Honey, I'm home." I greeted as I walked in the door. I chuckled at the pile of blankets and pillows that lined the couch. I guess someone was planning on getting a little cold or she wanted to be really comfortable. " What took you so long?" emily asked as she came over and wrapped her arms around my neck. "Oh I decided to run down and clean the barn a little so that we would have a spot to sleep tonight." I lied. "Oh, well I've got everything together except for snacks and drinks. Did you want to bring any?" She questioned. " Um, no I will just run down and bug Aunt Elaine if we get hungry, I am sure she won't mind." I relayed. "Planning on getting cold tonight?" I laughed nodding at the pile of blankets and pillows. " Well you never know." Emily grinned. " I am going to grab a shower and change quickly and then we can get down there." I said before bringing my lips to hers for a quick kiss. " Find the camcorder and camera okay? They should be in the cabinet." I requested as I released her and walked in the bathroom and shut the door before stripping my clothes off.
