Chapter 9 pt 2
*Trent's P.O.V.
I searched the entire property with no trace of Emily. I felt bad for what I had did yes, but I hoped that I could find her and make it right with her. Surely she would forgive me, this was the one and only time I had messed up. After about two hours of looking I finally gave up and went back to the house hoping that she would eventually show back up. I walked immediatly to the fridge and pulled out a cold beer before opening it and letting the contents drip coolingly down my throat hoping that it would calm my nerves a little.
After sitting on the couch for about an hour patiently waiting for Emily to come through the door (which never happened) I decided that I would change into some sweats and then go back out to search for her a little longer. I was actually getting worried as to where she might be and knew that I couldn't leave her out there for the night. As soon as I tried the door handle my heart jumped due to the fact that it was locked which could only mean one thing. "Emily?" I yelled as I banged on the door as my heart nearly pounded out of my chest at the fact that she was safe. "Sweetheart, can we talk please?" I tried again as I pounded on the door. "What the hell do you want Trent?" Emily snapped through the door. " I would like to talk to you and explain things from my point of view."
I explained. "You really think that you can explain things in a way that will help me understand why all the sudden your back in love with your ex again?" "What do you mean back in love with my ex again?" I interrupted. "Open this door now, before I take it down with my bare hands." I ordered in an authoritative voice which Emily responded to rather quickly.
"Oh my God Emily I am so thankful you are okay." I relayed honestly only to get smacked across the face. " What the hell was that for?" I said as I grabbed my cheek where Emily's hand had just came across it with my mouth wide open. "Don't sit here and patronize me Trent. I am more than willing to sit here and listen to the poor excuses you can give me as to why you are all jealous of Dustin hitting on your ex and then only to find out that the two of you decide to take a "Roll in the hay."
up in the loft, but no you want to sit here and tell me how worried you were about me. Why don't you tell me another fucking lie. Do you even know what the truth is right now?" Emily rambled. Take a roll in the hay with my Ex? Where the hell was that coming from? what was she talking about. Yes I had spoke up when Dustin offered to help Katherine and I had even told Dustin not to even think about going near her, but that was not because I was still in love with her. " I most certainly did not take a roll in the hay with Katherine. where the hell is this coming from?" I questioned as I saw tears welling up in Emily's eyes. "Trent why must you continue lying?" Emily sighed. "Sweetheart, I am not lying to you, I love you. I wouldn't do." I started, but only to be interrupted by another smack to my cheek. Damn this girl has a bitch slap to her. "Don't fucking do this Trent. Just tell me the truth and then I can move on and move on with my life." Emily hissed. " I am telling you the truth, but you believe what you want alright?" I informed as I backed away and went and sat down on the couch after grabbing an Ice cold beer out of the fridge and placed it on my sore cheek.
"Hey guys!" Dustin greeted as he walked through the door and snapping me out of my thoughts. Dustin! I bet you anything my horn dog of a cousin was the one with Katherine even after I told him not to get involved with her. "Dustin where have you been?" I say with an evil grin and loud enough so that Emily can hear me loud enough just as Emily walked out of the bedroom. "Um, your Aunts house where you two left me." Dustin replied with a guilty look on his face. "Really Dustin? So if I call up there right now and ask my Aunt, she will tell me that you have been there the whole time right?" I asked. "Oh So now you are going to go after Dustin just because you've been found out huh Trent? It doesn't friggen matter anymore. what's done is done and I am fucking done." Emily screamed.
"Am I interrupting something here? I figured a few hours would have been enough time." Dustin stated.
"Dustin, why don't you do me a favor and tell us where you really were." I growled. " enough Trent."
Emily yelled. "No, I think you need to hear this and then you can stop blaming me for Rolling in the hay with Katherine when in actuality I have been out looking for you." I seethed. "He's right." Dustin confessed. " I was the one in the barn with Katherine. I'm sorry I didn't realize anybody was in there." He added. " See there ya go. I told you that I love you and that I wasn't lying, but I am sure you still don't believe me right? Whatever." I said standing up from the couch and heading towards the door. "Trent wait." Emily spoke. "wait for what?" I snapped. "For you to tell me how wrong it was of me to try to prevent my cousin from getting involved with Katherine and seeing him hurt the way she hurt me so long ago?" I questioned. "Maybe I should have told you the reasons why I was doing it ahead of time, but Emily I've told you plenty of times and showed you so many times how much I love you and you still don't fully trust me. There is nothing else I can do to prove it to you. what else do you want me to do because I will do anything for you. you of all people should know this." I relayed as a tear rolled down my face. "I'll be back in a few." Dustin informed as he walked out the door.
" I'm sorry." Emily croaked through fallen tears. "What else can I say?" she asked. "You need to understand that it hurts me too when you don't trust me." I informed as I walked over to her and pulled her in to me due to the fact that I couldn't stand it when she cried. No matter how upset I was with her, I loved her and it hurt me twice as bad. "I love you Trent and I am sorry that I hurt you. I was just scared that I had lost you. What can I do to make it up to you?" She asked as she buried her head in my shirt. What can she do to make it up to me? was she really opening herself up for me to pop the question? More than she knew. I stepped back and held her hands as I looked deep into her eyes as started to speak. "Promise me that you will stop this silly thinking. You are the only one that I want Em and that will never change." I supplied. " I promise I will try." She said as she nodded her head. " Good." I whispered as I pulled her back into me with one arm and reached in my pocket with the other. I brought my lips to hers immediately deepening the kiss to distract her while I held the ring in my hand thinking about what exactly I wanted to say.
"You said you would do anything right?" I questioned as I pulled out of the kiss and put my forehead to hers while looking into her eyes once again. As soon as she nodded her head I took her left hand in mine and making sure I had her ring finger and quickly slid the ring on her finger. "Marry me Emily." I whispered as I saw the tears starting to flow from her eyes again before she wrapped her arms around my neck and crashed her lips to mine. I picked her up bridal style and carried her into the bedroom carefully not breaking the kiss before locking the door and flopping her down on the bed with me hovering over her. "Dustin." Emily said against my lips. " I told you I don't believe in sharing." I chuckled. "Smart ass. what if he comes back?" she asked. I quickly jumped off the bed and turned the radio on and turned it up as loud as it would go. " There, now anything else or are you going to make me wait longer? Because after the way you just attacked me with those lips, I don't think I can." I started but was soon cut off by her hungry lips once again.
" So you never technically answered me Em." I panted as I rested my head on my elbow while my right hand played with her ring. " If you were listening to my screams I believe there were a few Yes's in there."
She chuckled. "Now who is the smart ass?" I asked as I pressed my head against hers. "Of course I will marry you stud." Emily answered with the biggest smile ever. "Is that better?" She asked. "MMM I could have gone for the way you answered the first time, but Yes. I feel better now that you have actually answered.
