For The First Time, I See You

Mother? (30)

*Anna's POV*
I was getting ready for bed. I was the first one into the bathroom. I brushed my teeth and put on my pajamas. Rapunzel went after me. I went and sat on my bed looking at my painting. "Rapunzel is such a good artist." I said.

"Yeah she is, but she had lots of practice." Merida said.

"So did I, but I can hardly paint a flower." I replied.

"I'm sure you have a talent too Anna." Merida said.

"I really like sandwiches and chocolate, even though that's not really a talent. Do you have a talent?" I asked Merida.

"Yes actually." Merida said smiling.

"What is it?"

"I'll show you guys eventually."

"I don't think I can wait that long!" After a while everyone got in their beds.

"Goodnight girls!" Rapunzel said putting Pascal to bed.

"Goodnight Punzie." We said. I was having a wonderful dream until I heard someone singing. I opened my eyes and saw Rapunzel's hair glowing. Is she singing in her sleep? I listened closely and noticed it wasn't her voice. When the song ended, I turned and looked at the person singing. They quickly ran out the window. Someone's using Punzie's hair? I heard Rapunzel hyperventilating.

"Rapunzel, are you alright?" I asked.

"No, no I'm not alright."

*Rapunzel's POV*
I been having the same dream since I met Eugene. It's always a dream about a baby and her parents. In the middle of the night, someone comes and steals the baby. The parents never see the baby again and the person raised the baby as their own. I was in the middle of my dream when I heard someone singing,

Heal what has been hurt, change the fates design
Save what has been lost, bring back what once was mine
What once was mine..

I know that voice...mother? Before I could say anything, she disappeared. I couldn't breath.

"Rapunzel, are you alright?" Anna asked.

"No, no I'm not alright." I replied trembling.

"Who was that?" Anna asked.

"My mother..." I replied with a shaking voice.

"Should I go get Flynn?" Anna asked worried.

"Please Anna, please." I pleaded. I couldn't stop trembling. I heard her get up and grab her flashlight. She shut the door quietly. I felt Pascal crawl on my shoulder. I kissed him and told him I'd be alright.

"Rapunzel?" I heard Eugene ask.

"Eugene!" I called.

"Eugene?" Anna asked. Shoot, I forgot she was here.

"Yeah, that's my real name. Just please don't tell anyone." Eugene begged.

"Okay Flynn." Anna replied.

"Eugene, can we go for a walk?" I asked.

"Sure, sure!" He said. He walked over and helped me up. I left Pascal on my shoulder as we walked out of the door.

"I'm going to go back to bed. Night!" Anna said.

"Goodnight Anna." Eugene and I whispered. We walked down the halls, I looked up the clock and it read 3:25 am.

"What happened?" Eugene asked.

"My mother snuck into my room and used my hair. She did the same thing when we went to the Snuggly Duckling. She was the one who dragged me into the forest." I said leaning onto Eugene's shoulder. I was able to catch my breath again and stop shaking.

"Why is your mother using your hair?"

"I don't know." I replied with tears in eyes.

"Is there any other reason your mother wouldn't let you leave that tower?"

"She always told me people would use me for my powers if I left."

"Seems like she's the one who's been using you for your power." We kept walking till we were outside. The grass was covered in dew. We went and sat on the bench.

"I've been having this weird dream lately." I said.

"What is it?" Eugene asked. I told him all about the parents and their baby.

"That sounds like the story of the lost princess."

"Really?"

"What if you're the lost princess!" Eugene exclaimed.

"Eugene, I think you need to go back to bed. I'm not a princess."

"Seriously! This weekend I'll take you to Corona and you'll see!"

"How about after homecoming." I said.

"Okay." We sat in silence till about 4 o'clock. I looked over and saw Eugene lightly snoring. I leaned on his chest and felt his arms wrap around my body. I fell asleep peacefully.

We woke up when the sun rose. We walked back to our rooms and planned to walk to breakfast together. When I got back in the room I saw everyone fast asleep. I put Pascal gently into his bed, since he was still asleep. I decided to hop into the shower and get ready for school.
