The fire gave off strong amount of heat towards Kai's face. He wiped away sweat as he finished off the sword. The Prince had gave orders to Kia to make him a sword so when he summoned a spirit animal, that the Prince had a new sword when he became king.
Kai honestly didn't care if he summoned a spirit animal or not. He thought of them as creatures that would get in your way during work. Nya tried to explain to Kai that a spirit animal ment a change in life, especially if one of them did summoned a spirit animal. Kai considered the option, he was tried of making weapons when the king or prince told him to but he was great at being a blacksmith. Kai's other reason that he didn't want to summon a spirit animal was because of a accident involving his deceased mother's spirit animal. The prince got a well deserved punch from it after telling Nya and Kai 'don't summon a duck if you don't want it to become duck soup,' Nya punched hard enough to break the skin on the prince's cheek and scar him for life, figuratively and literaturely.
Kia finished the blade into the water to cool it off when Nadakan walked in "Are done with my sword yet?" He asked. Kai handed him the sword "All completed and ready for your summoning day," Kai said.
Just as Kai turned around and hoped, Nadakan just had to burst his bubble "You also have a summoning day as well Kai and it's about to start," the prince said walking away. Nya walked in afterwards "You can't avoid it forever Kai," she said. Kai groaned, Nya was right, she was always right. If he did try to avoid it, one of three things would happen: he'd summon a spirit animal and get the spirit sickness, he'd summon a spirit animal and be fine, he'd never summon a spirit animal and be fine. Kai looked back to his younger sister "Let's go do this then and get it over with," he said. He really hoped for never summoning a spirit animal.
Everyone had brought animals for the summoning. It was pretty intimidating to Kai 'This is how important spirit animals are to people?' He thought. People had their animals out, some even brought animals. Kai knew that a summoning was going to happen, how could it not with all these animals?
Nadakan took a sip from the vial and waited... nothing came. The Prince was disappointed but Kai was laughing internally but he knew it was now going to be his turn. He walked up as his name was called, the person handing him the bowl. He tilted it to his lips and took a sip. Suddenly he felt like he was on fire, blazing hotter than the sun. For a moment Kai wondered if he was going to burst into flames and die, when it finished and disappeared. A wolf sat in front of him with cobalt blue eyes.
Someone made their way though the crowd, pushing people aside. The person peeped out, a boy with blond hair and green eyes "You summoned Briggan!" He said and walked up to Kai. He grabbed Kai's wrist "We've got to get you away before they arrive," the boy added. Kai wanted to protest but he was already being lead away to the ported boats. Kai should have called out to his sister when she got on to the wrong boat.
