Kai sat in his room on the floor. Briggan was laying next to him. It was long past lights out but he couldn't sleep. How Lloyd acted early just didn't fit into place correctly, that and the noise bothered him. It was different compared to living in a quiet castle to the loud jungle. He tossed and turned until he couldn't stand it any more. Here he was sitting on the floor doing nothing. Kai pondered on finding out the source and dealing with it but if he got caught then that was a world of trouble he didn't want. Then again when did he ever follow throes rules, plus he hasn't been for more than a day so if someone saw him wandering Kai could play it off as being lost. He nodded, he was going into the belly of the beast.
He had wondered the jungle in the day so he knew what it looked like with light. In the dark it was much more threatening. Briggan brushed up against him, the wolf aware of just how dangerous. A far off in the jungle, a barrage of animal noises could be heard. That's where Kai was headed.
He tracked over plants, stumps, an occasional ditch. Until finally he reached a small patch work of bushes, near the animal sounds. Kai watched as a man walked up to a large cage. Inside the cage, was a dog, it's tail swishing behind it, tongue hanging out off its mouth, the cage was twice the size of the dog.
The man had slick black hair, a long scar running down his face. The man spoke "So what's this stuff suppose to do? To an animal that is," he asked.
Another man, shorter than than the first, talked in a strange voice "It make them stronger, enough to take down an entire town, or a great beast," he squeaked.
The first man stroked his face, thinking then looked at the short man "I want to see it," the scar guy replied.
Two men lead the scar guy to a tent. After a few moments the scar man came out with a vial, and walked to the dog's cage. He opened the vial and forcing the dog to stay still, he poured the elixir inside. The man backed away, the dog whimpered and whined. Its body began to change as muscles bulges beneath the skin and fur.
It growled. Its tail no longer swishing, and its eyes looked violent. The scar man was smiling "And if you gave it to a human?" He asked.
The small man walked up to him "Nothing like this, just forces a bond, you in complete control," the smaller said darkly.
The scar man had left some bile inside the vial and took a swallow of it. He winced almost wanting to vomit but he didn't. After a small pause he looked at the monster dog, holding out his arm the dog became a tattoo on his skin. He smiled wickedly "Perfect," he said.
Kai stepped back, this was inhumane. Yeah, he wasn't a big fan of spirit animals but forcing a bond was passing the point of no return.
A twig snapped under his foot, both men turned to his direction. They couldn't see him but knew he was standing there. The scar man summoned the dog again and it charged towards him.
Kia turned and ran, Briggan following him. The wolf let out a howl. The sudden surge of energy flowed through Kai, he felt like the wind. He reached a dead end and turned around. The dog was almost upon him, fear filled Kai. This was it he was going to die! Countless arrows pieced the dog's body, killing the beast slowly. Lloyd dropped down from a nearby tree "Lets go, quickly!" He whispered, once again leading Kai away.
