TWENTY-SIX.

After one hundred thousand trees, we are not there yet. Okay, maybe I was exaggerating but I'm so tired. "Are we there yet?" I asked. My voice is obvious in exhaustion.

"Almost," He answered back.

"I'll stop first." I leaned my back against a tall tree. I need to rest just for a while.

"You really need to work out." He said in an amused tone.

"Maybe some other time," I said as he giggled.

While I was resting, Ethan roamed around but he's not going far. Seriously, is his energy ever get drained or his naturally an 'I-don't-get-tired-so-easily' type of person? If he does, it would be polite if he could give me some of his never-ending energy.

Out of the blue, I felt something cold in my shoulders. I touched it. The texture is smooth and cold. What is this?

My question is answered when the cold thing made a sound.

I don't like the sound of it. In fact, it scares the hell out of me.

A snake is on my shoulders.

If I could scream right now, I would do it without hesitation but I do know that if I even move a muscle, the snake will suck the life out of me. The snake made eye contact with me and I don't know what the fuck I will do to remove this reptile on my body. Instead of looking back at the snake –I can't even look at it, really, snakes are one of my huge fears –I focused my eyes on Ethan who's still enjoying himself roaming around.

Just one glance Ethan, please. Help me for the love of God.

"Bree, c'mon," Ethan spoke and turned around to face me. Yes, at last. "Let's get going–" He stopped himself from speaking, completely seeing the life and death situation that I'm in.

He mouthed 'calm down' and I badly want to be sarcastic at him right at this moment. How can I even calm myself? I was on the verge of death!

I saw him grab a stick and aimed it to the snake. He lifted the close part of the snake's head using the stick to remove it away from me then when the snake held on to the stick, Ethan threw the stick so far from us.

When the snake is no longer close to us, I still distance myself from the tree as I hugged myself. I'm sweating due of nervousness and my skin felt cold because of goosebumps.

Ethan quickly went to my side and cupped my cheeks. "You're pale." He hugged me tight as he rubbed my back for comfort. "Stop panicking, baby, everything's okay now." Damn, I'm so close on having a panic attack. Good thing he's right on time to save me. "Let's get out of here."

We started walking as my hands are wrapped in his waist, completely still wanted his warmth for comfort.

"Since I was a child, I'm scared of snakes." I spoke after a while.

"It's obvious." He said then chuckled lightly. "Finally, you spoke. I'm so worried that you might faint."

"Thank you for saving me back there." I looked at him as our eyes met.

"No worries, you know I'll do anything for you." He kissed my forehead.

I smiled at his genuine action. "Um, are we there yet?"

"Yeah, just a few steps more." He paused. "Aha! Here we are!" He said cheerfully then I looked at our surroundings.

My eyes met a huge waterfall. The water is so clear I can see the rocks formed beneath it. It has a calming vibe into it that makes you want to stay here for a while. My fear of the snake earlier has completely vanished because of this place.
