I woke up first and stood up, I filled the copper bath up with warm water and then disrobed before climbing in and relaxing. I had time and I needed a soak in the bath. I heard a groan from my bedroom and I knew that the fool was only waking up. So I soon climbed out and got changed into my leather corset, black trousers and boots but left my hair down so it could dry properly.
I walked into my bedroom and I saw the fool look over at me as I sat down on the end of the bed. "Thank you" he said.
"You're welcome witcher" I replied. "What do I call you?" I inquired.
"Geralt Of Rivia and yourself?" He answered.
"Shadow Ember" I replied. I noticed Geralt looked down at the medallion around my neck.
"I see you're a witcher to" he commented.
"Healer, witcher yes" I nodded.
"The griffin?" He asked gesturing to the scratches on my face.
"Yes" I nodded pulling my hair over them a bit more. Geralt frowned and then looked out the window.
"At least we know summer is finally in" he said beaming a smile my way. I nodded, I could see Geralt was eager to stand.
"You're to weak to move" I said getting up and pulling on my cloak.
"Where are you going?" He asked.
"Well I need a few things to keep treating you with" I smiled and then walked outside to my steed, I gave her one nudge in the ribs and with a thud we began to gallop off to the town, I knew Geralt was stubborn from the stories I had been told and I knew he would probably be up and walking around when I got home.
"Hey freak!" Someone yelled and hurled a tomato at me which hit my cloak and caused my horse to rear up throwing me off, my eyes glittered yellow as I turned to the group of young boys who were shouting their taunts my way.
"You know even those eyes make you look ugly with that scar included" they yelled. That hurt deeply but none the less I pulled my sword on them. A guard soon approached me.
"Trust me witcher they're not worth your time. Where are you headed perhaps I can escort you?" The guard asked politely.
"The Apothecary" I answered. I whistled and my horse soon came trotting back to me, she rubbed her nose against my torso telling me she was sorry. I just scratched her snout, the guard and I walked to the Apothecary. I soon tied her up outside and then walked in side, the guard accompanying me.
"Ar my dear Shadow what do you need?" The Apothecary owner asked.
"I need Aloe Vera and Comfrey" I replied.
"Those are strong, the person who you're healing must be lucky" He smiled getting the herbs for me and I was just about taking my purse out when the guard spoke up.
"Its okay I'll pay for that" He said.
"You really don't have to" I insisted. "Also I need something to help with sleeping" I told him.
"Here try Lavender" He said handing me the glass bottle. I knew Geralt was going to find it hard to sleep with the immense pain he was in. So the guard paid and then I walked back to my mare who was nibbling on the neck of another Friesian stallion stood next to her but I recognised the steed since it was her brother and the horse had a caparison which was black and red with the crest of the Kings guard on it. I looked at the guard and noticed his tabard matched.
"This is your mount?" I asked.
"Yes" He nodded.
"I am going to guess your horse follows you around as it does me?" I asked.
"Yes" He answered.
So I took my mare by the reins and led her to the gate. "Can I escort you home?" The guard asked.
"No I am okay" I replied mounting my horse.
"Okay, till we meet again then" He said bowing and then departing. I mounted my horse and began to head back. I rode down the path my horses hooves clattering against the ground. I pulled my horse to a halt and I dismounted, then pulled my horses reins over her head and then l lead her around to the back yard, I untacked her and patted her neck pushing her into the field gently. I walked back into the house and what do you know Geralt was sitting up.
"You should be resting" I said closing the door behind me.
"I feel better" He replied as I threw my saddle bag onto the table.
"Try standing then!" I demanded resting one hand on my hip and the other the table I could see he knew he couldn't stand and instead gave me a sly smile. "Besides I have your herbs" I told him. I walked into my kitchen area and began to prepare the herbs, I made the Aloe Vera and Comfrey into a paste which I was going to apply to Geralts wounds.
"How are your wounds feeling?" I quizzed him.
"Better" He answered. "I cant thank you enough" He commented, sitting forward so I could put the paste on his shoulders and then put the rest on his fore arm. "You know Shadow you could've left me for dead, why did you save me?" He inquired.
"Because every witcher looks out for one another, and besides Vesimir told me a lot about you. I just couldn't allow the legend to die" I replied. Geralt just smiled to himself and what I thought I heard was a chuckle escape his lips, his shoulders began to relax as I applied the paste to his wounds which I then wrapped back up with the bandages. I took the cup from the night stand and filled it with water and then applied a few drops of lavender into it and then handed it to Geralt.
I watched as he drank the liquid before resting back in the bed. I was about to get up but only found that Geralt had wrapped his strong grip around my wrist, so i carefully unpeeled his fingers and said "rest well witcher" Then I walked back into the kitchen to finish using the rest of the herbs for more paste so I wouldn't run out.
