Chapter 6: Messages

Chapter 6,  hope you enjoy.

I woke up with a mild headache from sleep by my alarm clock alert.

As much as I remember, yesterday, around dinner time, mom brought dinner to my room. I vaguely remember her trying to explain something to me which I didn't get as I was too sleepy. I slept again after eating.

I woke up at three in the morning with a terrible nightmare and thunderclap of a storm raging outside. I was short of breath and sweating heavily. Afterwards, every time I tried to sleep, the fragments of the nightmare would reappear and scare the hell out of me, so instead, all I managed to do was to roll on my bed trying to find a comparatively comfortable position to sleep in.

After trying for an hour or so, I gave up, washed my face of all the sweat and teardrops, that I didn't realized until then, were even there.

I went straight to the recliner with a book from my assorted collection and tried to distract myself with some good reading. Also if the book turned out to be boring, it would help me fall asleep.

I am aware that I was awake till 5:30 in the morning. It must have been after that I fell asleep in the recliner only to wake up with a headache and a cramp.

I went to the washroom to freshen up. I wanted to take a leave from school, partly because of the throbbing headache, and partly to be able to pick Diana early.

But some part of me wanted to meet Jason again. I had questions. Maybe he would not have answers to them. Nevertheless I had to ask the questions popping up in my mind since we last met. So, going to school was a necessity.

I looked up to see my reflection in the mirror just to see a ragged looking girl with curls standing up in every direction staring back at me. She had bags under her dark brown almost black eyes. I really need to time my sleeping routine to get rid of these bags.

I brushed my teeth, freshened up, and went to check my phone. There were 20 messages in a row. Five of them were from an unknown number and the other 15 were from Audrey.

I opened Audrey's first.

HEY!!! hw was ur day??
- 01:45 p.m.

u left widout me......did u take the bus???
- 02:27 p.m.

Hey ans plzz...
- 02:35 p.m.

hey gal! I want 2 talk urgnt. Call ASAP!
- 02:54 p.m.

you didn't cal?? is evrythng ok??????
- 03:15 p.m.
