"So, Patrick, why don't you tell me a bit about yourself." Pete said, sitting across the table from Patrick.

"I don't really think that there is much to tell," Patrick told him.

"Well, I saw you had a guitar," He said.

"I play a bit. I have interviews for five music scholarships later this summer."

"You must be really talented." Pete said.  Just as he spoke, Ashlee walked through the door. Her hair was a bit of a mess, and her face was flustered. She looked exhausted. "Hey, babe." He said getting up to give her a kiss. She smiled half-heartedly and continued to go down the hall.

Pete was an attractive man, and Ashlee was really lucky to have him, but she didn't always look that happy. From what Patrick has seen, she looks like everything she does with Pete, she doesn't do it like she loves him, she looks like she simply tolerates him. Pete deserves more than that, and it's completely clear that Pete is oblivious to that obvious fact.

-The Next Day-

"Pete, can I borrow your car?" Patrick asked the older man.

"Sure, keys are on the table. Don't stay out past ten." Pete said.

"I'm just going to Walmart." Patrick reassured Pete.

As Patrick was scouring the aisles of the department store, he saw something he would never expect to see in his entire life. He saw, right infront of him,  Ashlee holding hands with some guy he's never seen before.
