Spencer pulled up to the drive-thru lane of Bruster's. "What do you want to get?" He asked, rolling down his window to face the flushing cashier, who batted her eyelashes flirtily at him.
"Uh..." I stammered. What could I order without looking like a total fattie? "A low-fat Banana Chip frozen yogurt, please." I finally decided, even though I hated bananas and didn't care much for low-fat yogurt.
"And I'll have a Tiramisu ice cream in a waffle cone." Spencer said smoothly, flashing a hundred watt smile at the cashier, who looked like she was about to faint. A few minutes later, we were parked in the Waffle House parking lot and enjoying our ice cream/frozen yogurt. Well, Spencer did all of the enjoying. I just sat and pretended to nibble on my Banana Chip, all the while eyeing Spencer's Tiramisu.
"Don't you like your frozen yogurt?" Spencer asked.
I gave him a nervous smile. "It's great." I lied through my teeth. "It's just that I'm not too hungry at the moment."
Spencer shrugged, setting down his finished ice cream. "Then you won't mind if I take your leftovers." He stated, making heat rush to my face as he took my spoon and put some Banana Chip into his mouth. He made a face. "This is foul, how could you eat this?" He muttered, shoving it back at me. He noticed me blushing furiously.
"What's wrong?" He asked, looking a bit concerned.
I laughed shakily. "Oh nothing, it's really childish." I told him, fiddling around with my fingers.
"No, seriously. I want to know." Spencer stated, amused.
"W-well, it's just that we kind of justhadanindirectkiss." I rushed out, reddening even more if possible.
Surprisingly, Spencer understood the massive clutter of words I had just thrown at him. He chuckled. "It's not a big deal, Liz. Don't be embarrassed. Are you asking for a real kiss, then?"
Before I could respond, his lips were pressed against mine. At first I was shocked, but then gradually I began to respond. His lips were very soft- almost too soft- as if he constantly put on chap stick, but his mouth was experienced and in moments, he had pried my mouth open with his tongue. I kissed back for a moment, but then withdrew, avoiding his sparkling green eyes.
"Sorry." I mumbled. "I don't kiss on first dates."
Spencer smiled, seemingly unperturbed. "No problem." He said easily, winking. "I guess we'll just have to wait for our second date, then."
Our ride back was relatively nice; we made small talk, though my heart was beating hard the whole time. A week ago, Spencer Steinfield had been one of my idols. And just then, he had his tongue in his mouth. Spencer Steinfield! I could hardly believe it.
"Thanks for the frozen yogurt and the ride." I thanked him bashfully, unfastening my seatbelt.
"Anytime, babes." Spencer responded, flashing me a disarming smile. As I placed my hand on the door handle, he leaned over and pecked me on the cheek, making me flush for what seemed to be the hundredth time that day.
When I unlocked the door and stepped inside of my house, my mom and dad were cuddling on the living room couch and watching TV. I almost cooed- my parents were too cute. My dad looked up. "Hey baby." He greeted me. "Where have you been?"
