I sat in the sand and watched the guys toss around the frisbee. The girls were setting up a few spots away. I looked over as Shannon was taking off her shirt. I bit my lip and groaned internally.
"Perv."
James laughed. I rolled my eyes and threw sand at him. I watched as she lathered sun tan lotion on her skin. She put on her sunglasses and laid down on her towel. I looked away and looked towards the guys. They were in the water filling buckets up with water. I shook my head and laughed. They ran towards the girls and dumped the water on them. They yelled and Shannon jumped on James' back, attempting to make him fall, but failed. Instead, he took off towards the water and tossed her in. I laughed as she walked out of the water and up the beach. I grabbed my towel and walked over to her. I handed her my towel and she smiled and thanked me. She wrapped it around herself and walked over to her spot. She sat down and handed me back the towel. I sat down with her and began to take my shirt off.
"Anyone wanna play frisbee?"
Beau screamed.
"Me!"
Shannon laughed. I looked over and she was fixing her top. I bit my lip and she stood up and fixed her bottoms.
"Yeah."
Jai said.
"Sure."
I added.
Beau tossed the frisbee to Jai, then Jai threw it to me. I tossed it to Shannon, who threw it at Beau's face. Her hands covered her mouth and she went wide eyed.
"FUCK"
Beau yelled and I laughed loudly.
"Beau I am so so sorry!"
He flipped her off instead of replying and I tried not to laugh again.
" Beau! Not nice!"
Lexie scolded.
"You're dead meat."
He laughed. She stood there and looked at him. He rubbed his eye and then took off, chasing after her. She ran as fast as she could but it was useless, cause he chased her into the ocean and she fell flat on her face. I laughed loudly and the girls covered theirs mouths trying not to laugh at her. The boys and I laughed as we found it quite funny. Jai took off into the ocean and splashed at her. She jumped on his back and they took off towards Beau, now chasing him and she squealed with laughter. I smiled widely and laughed as well. Her laugh was contagious.
Later that night I sat in my room after having a shower. I stared at my phone and fought with myself to text or call Shannon. I wasn't sure on what to do but sure enough I picked up the phone and dialed her number. I pushed back my wet hair from my face and she answered on the third ring.
"Hello?"
She answered and my heart kept into my throat.
"Hey, what are you doing?"
I asked trying to control my breathing.
"Nothing just sitting here bored. Why what's up?"
She asked curious of what I had in mind.
"Wanna go grab something to eat?"
"Sure I could eat."
I looked at the time quickly, "I'll come up to your room at 7?"
"That sounds fine, Luke. See you then?"
"Yeah I'll see you then."
With that being said she hung up and I took a deep breath. I never felt like this when calling a girl, so why do I feel this way now?
At 7 on the dot I was at her door building up the courage to knock. My brain got tired of me arguing with myself so he decided to do it for me. My hand lifted and I knocked gently. She opened the door and she smiled at me.
"Hey."
She said coming out of the room and closing the door.
"Hey."
I replied. We left the hotel and walked around the city. We eventually did go get dinner and sat and talked. When dinner was over we pretty much did the same thing, walked around and talked.
"So.."
I said awkwardly.
"Haha, soo."
She smiled toward me. I smiled back.
"How do you like America so far?"
She asked.
"I've been here before, just not this part."
"Ohhh, yeah me either haha. I've never been to LA."
"I'm honored to be here with you for your first time."
I winked at her and she rolled her eyes.
"When we first moved to Australia I was so annoyed and mad. But now I'm glad we did. I never would've met you guys. You's are better friends to me than my actual friends."
She said softly.
"I'm grateful for you guys."
She laughed.
"We're glad you moved too."
I laughed as well.
"You're a good friend Luke."
Oh no, friend zoned. I smiled slightly and laughed.
"You're pretty cool too I guess."
She rolled her eyes again and punched my arm.
"Oh come on you love me!"
She winked. You have no idea. I laughed.
"Yeah, you're cool I guess."
She scoffed and continued walking.
When we got back to the hotel and I walked her to her room she was alone for the night, Lexie and Caitlin were with Jai and Beau. I wanted so badly to stay with her but I know the answer would've been no. So I said goodnight and went to my own room.
