Chapter 3

Zoe's POV

I did it, I dialled Niall's number, he should be in Ireland by now. ''Hello?'' he asked, ''It's Zoe, Niall I need a huge favour?'' I said, ''What have you done?'' he asked laughing, ''Well I may or may not have went to the shop and left my bath running and flodded the house'' I said.

''ZOE! I told you something would happen'' he said laughing, ''Yeah, well I need a place to stay'' I said, ''What about my parents though?'' he said, ''Niall I'm homeless for now I don't think they'll mind will they? Please? You gotta at least ask'' I said.

''Fine, I'll ask just now'' he said, ''Thank you so much'' I said, ''I'll call you back, pack a few things and begin walking round to mines'' he said as I packed a few belongings that weren't ruined and left for Niall's.

It was only a 10 minute walk and as I neared Niall's I began to worry. I mean our families have been arguing for years now, they're not just gonna welcome me with open arms into their home. I shrugged it off and continued walking with my small bag, all I managed to get was a charger for my phone which luckily was on the top shelf of my book case, my iPod and headphones and the money from the bread bin in the kitchen and some clothes and pyjamas.

I got to the front door and called Niall, ''Hello Zoe'' he said, ''Niall, I'm outside your house'' I said, ''Okay, be out just now'' he said before I hung up and waited on him coming to the door. About a minute later the door was flung open and there stood Niall; looking as handsome as ever with a big smile on his face.

He embraced me in a hug, ''Aw, Zoe how much I've missed you'' he said, ''I missed you too Nialler'' I said as we seperated, I felt cold all of a sudden. ''Niall, what's going on here? Why is she here?'' Maura asked, ''Oh yeah I forgot to tell my mum'' Niall said, ''Tell me what Niall?'' Maura said.

''I, um, I told Zoe she could stay here cos her house got flodded and her parents are on holiday'' he said, ''Niall, a word please? Alone'' Maura said, ''Oh yeah, Zoe you can go to my room, first on the--'' I cut him off, ''First on the right, I remember'' I said smiling as I walked upstairs, feeling quite nervous.

What if Maura and Bobby decide to kick me out?

What if they're not gonna let me stay here until my parents get back?

What if they tell Niall to kick me out?

What if they figure out me and Niall have kept in contact over the past 4 years?

All the 'What if's travelled through my mind that I didn't stop to think about any positives, I couldn't, not at this moment anyway. I sighed as I tied my hair up and sat on Niall's bed taking out my phone to call my mum.

''Hey, mum, I have bad news'' I said, ''What's wrong honey?'' she asked, ''I am so sorry, please don't get angry but I went to the shop and left the water running and when I came back the house was flodded, mum I'm so sorry'' I said, I heard her sigh, ''Are you alright?'' she asked, ''Yeah I'm fine, but the house isn't, everything is ruined'' I said, ''Where are you?'' she asked, ''Oh, me? I'm, um, I'm at The Horan's'' I said, ''What? And they're just letting you in?'' she said, ''Well Maura and Bobby aren't too thrilled but Niall's alright with it'' I said.

''You be careful Zoe, don't get too close to them and--'' I cut her off, ''Mum, I'm a big girl, okay I gotta go, Niall's coming back up, bye mum, tell dad I said hi, love you both'' I said, ''Bye Zoe, we love you too'' she said as I hung up, Niall came in with a half smile, ''Well?'' I asked, ''Well, she said you can stay until your parents get home but then you've go leave and not come back'' he said.

''Way to come right out with it'' I said, ''Look Zoe, don't let the way our families argue affect our friendship'' Niall said, ''I'm sorry, it's just, the way it all ended is a day I'll never forget Niall, it haunts me to this day still. And even after 4 and a half years I'm still not over how it all ended, our families have been friend since our mum's were young and then one day it just ended, like that'' I said, ''I know Zoe, but it's not gonna change how close we are, Zoe we've stayed in contact for four years, we can still stay in contact'' he said.

''But Niall, I don't wanna be in secret contact anymore, I want proper contact, where we can see each other more and not have to keep it a secret'' I said, ''But Zoe babe, that can't happen, and you and I both know that'' he said, I faked a smile and tried changing the subject, going on to talk about my favourite thing ever; food, Niall knew my smile was fake and he knew exactly what I was doing but he continued as if it were nothing.
