A year. That’s how long I’ve been JJ’s bodyguard/secret girlfriend. Most girls would get tired of all the lying and sneaking around, but I just think of it as an adventure. An adventure no other girl gets to experience.
“Alright!” I watch as the director ends the day’s shooting, the entire filming crew taking a deep sigh of relief. My eyes scan over the large studio, looking for JJ. I spot him near the fan area, giving autographs. It’s amazing how a scribbled signature can give a person such happiness.
Recently, JJ has been requested more and more, especially overseas. So here we are, in Japan, working on a mini album. “Don’t you ever feel jealous?” I jump, hearing the voice belonging to Junsu. I turn to see him dressed casually. My gaze returns to JJ who’s still signing autographs and taking pictures. “Sometimes,” I sigh, “It’s especially hard when he has a kissing scene.” Junsu pats me on the shoulder, “Don’t worry about those girls.” I shrug and slide against the cold factory wall. “How are you so sure?”
JJ is quite popular with the ladies, I must admit. However, that is reason for concern. What if he finds a girl who’s way better than me. What if he decides that he’s done dating a foreigner and wants a traditional Korean girl to bring home. Heck, he hasn’t even told his family about me. Junsu and Yoochun found out by accident! “Hello? Sabrina? Anybody home?” Junsu stands before me, waving his hands back and forth. “Sorry, I just thought about something I needed to do.” “Like what?” He doesn’t believe me. “I forgot to clean up the apartment before we left so it’s going to be a total pigsty when we get back.” He believes me, or he’s good at deceiving others.
The studio’s staff take the twenty or so girls to another part of the building, allowing JJ to take a breather. Looking drained he walks over to where I stand with Junsu. “Hey duck-butt.” He greets Junsu first, then turns to me. “What kind of bodyguard lets their client run off to sign pictures and deface their country’s currency,” he asks in a low growl as he stands above me. I look up into his deep chocolate orbs and smirk, “I know when fans want to attack and if I’d gone over there it would have turned ugly.” He raises an eyebrow, “Really now? I think I might like to see my girl kick some ass.” I laugh and turn to see Junsu chatting it up with one of the temps. She’s a Korean girl through and through. A beautiful ulzzang to make matters worse. She looks like JJ’s type. “What’s wrong?” He holds my chin. I shake my head. “Nothing.” I give him a quick kiss on the lips before the director calls him back to the set.
He gives me a worried look before returning to the set. I breathe deeply and walk to his dressing room. I hate it when he can read me. He knows everything and I know so little. “Hey!” I look up to see a high school girl flagging me down. “You’re close to Jaejoong-oppa, right?” I look the girl over. She can’t be more than sixteen years old. “I guess you could say that. Why?” Her face lights up and she reaches into the pocket of her black blazer, pulling out an envelope. “Can you give this to oppa?” I’m stunned. Nothing like this has ever happened before. “Ugh, sure.” She squeals, “Thanks unni!” As she walks away I gather the courage to ask how old she is. I don’t know why, but it bothers me. “Excuse me! How old are you?” She smiles and flips her long jet black hair, “28, but don’t tell anyone. They only allowed high schoolers on the set today.” I’m shocked as she walks away. Who is this lady? I can feel my face grow hot as the seconds pass. Do I need to be worried about her? Is she some kind of psycho fan? “Here you are.” I jump at the sound of JJ’s voice behind me. “You scared the shit out of me!” “I’m sorry,” he laughs. “What’s that?” He points to the envelope in my hand. “Oh…” Should I tell him? “It’s nothing.” I rip the envelope into small pieces before tossing it into the trash. That woman gave me a bad vibe. “Ah, well I’m done with shooting today. How about we go out to dinner?” He wraps his arms around me and kisses my lips. “Okay.”
At JJ’s home in Japan we get ready to go out. I put on a short fitted black dress and some pumps while he puts on a suit. “You look absolutely beautiful.” “You look just as handsome.” In his Bentley we go to an underground restaurant where no fans can bother us. But as we enter the place I get the feeling that someone is watching us. I dismiss it though. I want to enjoy our night out. It might be awhile before we get another.
“Are you having a good time?” JJ asks as he re-fills my glass. “Of course I am. I’m with you aren’t I?” I smile, my heart beating fast. He leans in to kiss me. I close my eyes.
Ring.
JJ grunts as he reaches into his pocket and pulls out his phone. “The fuck do you want?” From his tone I knows it’s one of the guys. “What happened?!”
Our dinner is interrupted because of something that happened at JJ’s house. Supposedly someone broke in and now the police are detaining her per JJ’s request. At his home I follow behind him into the brightly lit modern place. “I AM HERO’S GIRLFRIEND!” The woman’s voice. I know it. I stop dead in my tracks as the woman from earlier comes into view. “Jaejoong! Tell them the truth!” She is still wearing the clothes from earlier.
JJ tells the cops to leave, saying that he’ll handle things. I close the door behind the cops and enter the living room to hear them talking quietly. “How many times do I have to tell you? We’re done!” “No!” Curious, I step into the room and stand next to JJ. “You,” she points at me, “did you give him my envelope?” My face grows hot. JJ looks at me, wanting an answer. “No. It’s not exactly normal for a woman your age to wear a school uniform.” She shrugs her shoulders and reaches into her pocket. “I knew you’d do something like that,” she pulls out a stack of photos, “so I made another one.” She tosses the photos into the air. They fall to the ground, revealing images of her and JJ. “I’m pretty sure you wouldn’t want those getting out, now would you?”
