On the way to Union Mine, there weren't that many zombies. We pulled into the Union Mine parking lot and see a good sized group of survivors waiting for us to pick them up. I notice a few Ponderosa jerseys among them. I sigh and stand up in my seat, gaining my the attention of everyone on the bus.
"Apparently there are a few Ponderosa kids here as well. Let's hope the buses have enough room. Now, let's move. Break!" As I shout the last word, we park and the doors open. I jump off the bus, bow and arrow ready, and run to the waiting kids.
"Okay. Split yourselves into two groups. You don't need to be in the same group as all of your friends because we're all going to the same place. Now hurry, before the zombies-" I didn't finish my sentence because Kylar grabbed my arm. I look at him, a question in my eyes.
"We got zombies at 12 o'clock behind the bus. We need to go now." He says, and I nod. I turn to the kids in front of me.
"You heard Kylar! Get on a bus! Quickly!" I shout, and the kids all got on a bus. I run around the front of the bus, Kylar on my heels, and start shooting down zombies.
One gets a little too close, and I stab it in the heart with a knife. I turn and throw my bow up to a kid on the bus and pull out my swords after putting my knife away. I begin slicing and stabbing at any zombie that got too close to us.
After five minutes, Connor leans out of the bus window. "Everyone's on a bus. Move it, sis! Come on, Kylar! Get on!" Kylar and I stop killing zombies and run onto the bus. Connor quickly shuts the doors and takes off down the road, Evan's bus following close behind. I sigh and relax. Kylar, whose head is on my lap, begins laughing like an idiot, but I soon join in. I stand up and turn to our new additions.
"Alright, who has my bow?" I ask and a familiar face stands up, holding my bow in his hand. I smile at the blonde boy with a wide grin on his face.
"Thank you, Austin." I take my bow from him and give him a big hug. Looking around, I begin to recognize more familiar faces here and there. Some I like, and some I don't like. Connor radios the bus behind us and him and Evan chat back and forth.
Now in a seat, I lean back against Kylar's chest, drained of energy, and sigh, exhausted. Kylar wraps an arm around my shoulders and brings me closer, stroking my hair slowly.
"Can I go to sleep?" I mumble. I hear Kylar chuckle.
"Yes, Lyn. Go to sleep." He says, smiling. I smile back and close my eyes, immediately falling into the familiar darkness.
