Campus Book Store

The smell of fresh new books surrounded the area around the brunette. She struggled to balance the book in her left hand as she held onto the sheet of paper on her right. Her eyes scanned the list with a frown, she didn’t want to take up a new course but she dreaded taking Media Arts since day one when her dreams were taking the other kind of arts. Well, she’s now glad that she talked to her sister about it and as soon as she got a yes, she had talked to the counselor that was in charge of the course she wanted. Well – the books that she needed weren’t exactly that many as was listed but they were quite thick which made them extremely heavy.

Gazing back down on her list, her eyes caught a particular book tittle before she scanned the shelves once more. Too focused in looking for the books she needed, she hadn’t heard the store’s bell ring – meaning that she and the owner of the store weren’t the only ones inside anymore. The person that had stepped inside a few seconds ago had greeted the owner of the store before looking around, thinking that no one was around but him. He shrugged and began looking around, his eyes scanning the area to look for his particular course sign. He slipped his hands into his pockets and continued walking around but his assumptions were wrong as he spotted a brunette reaching for a book that her height didn’t seem to be of help at all. He thought that it was somewhat cute and couldn’t help but grin at the sight.

Deciding to help the poor girl out, he strode his way towards her direction. “Hey.” He greeted – making her jump and shriek in surprise, the books she once held in her hand dropping down to the floor with a loud thud. Harry winced before chuckling and bending over to help her pick up the books. “I’m so sorry. I didn’t mean to scare you.”

“It’s okay.” She said, picking up the books before standing back up and pressing the books against her chest. Her eyes were fixed on the floor as her cheeks heated from the embarrassment. As Harry stood with the books that he had picked up before she had did, he lifted his head and flashed her a small smile but it completely faded away when he realized she wasn’t looking at him.

“Hey, are you alright?” he asked, dipping his head a bit to catch a glimpse of her face. A darker shade of red crept onto her cheeks before she swallowed the lump stuck in her throat and picked up the courage to look up at him. When she did – she regretted it immediately as she felt her breath drawn away from her as her eyes locked onto his. She began to nod her head slowly as she felt her fingers tremble against the books that she held. Harry let a chuckle slip between his lips once more and couldn’t help but think how adorable she was. He handed her the books that he had picked up and gave her a nod. “I’m Harry.”

“M-Miley.” She stuttered before grasping the books that Harry handed to her. Her lips curled up into a nervous smile before stepping a foot back. She cleared her throat once more – not once tearing her gaze off of the orbs she now have admired.

“It’s nice to meet you, Miley.” He said; nodding his head once before tilting his head back to look up at the shelf she was reaching for just a moment ago. He glanced down at her for a moment before extending his arm, his hand reaching for the particular book and pickied it off of its shelf for her. He waved it around the air and raised an eyebrow. He asked, “Is this what you were trying to reach for?”

She nodded her head once before debating whether to take the book from him. Her hands were too occupied to grasp another thick book. A tired sigh erupts from her lips before she looked back up at him. “I’ll just place these on the counter first.” She said and smiled shyly up at him before turning around and striding down the path that led down to the counter. Harry shrugged his shoulders and followed her anyways. As she placed the books down on the counter, he had reached her and placed the book down carefully on top of the others. She looked up at him and smiled gratefully, “Thank you.”
