Taylor's POV

I didn't sleep a wink.

I was up all night waiting for Calvin.

But he didn't come home.

I waited to here the familiar jingling on keys outside the main door.

I waited for him to gingerly open the room door and flash me his killer smile.

I waited for him to greet me with a peck on my cheek when he got home.

I waited for him to take his shower just so he could come out smelling like mint and lavender blossoms so i could inhale his scent and invade my senses.

I waited for him to climb into bed next to me so we couldn cuddle each other to sleep.

I waited for him to tell me 'I love you' before drifting off to sleep and snoring.

But it was 4am, and he hadn't come back.

Soon, I told myself.

Soon.

I was murmuring a prayer to myself but stopped short.

I heard it.

The sound i would recognise wherever i went.

I bolted up from my seat and rushed down the stairs towards the main door. I flung it open and let out a little yelp.

Yelp of joy.

"CALVIN!"
I flung my arms around his neck and pulled him in for a tight hug. After some many minutes, he pulled back and gave me my long awaited kiss but not on the cheek. On my lips.
"Sorry, was held up at a friend's party." He smiled awkwardly at me.
"I knew it! You wouldn't stay out so late if there wasn't a good reason to!"
He glanced around the living room before turning back to look me questioningly in the eyes.
"Were you waiting for me?"
"Uh...yeah."
"I didn't mean t-"
"It's okay! All that matters is that you're back now, safe and sound." I piped in, not wanting Calvin to feel bad. After all, making people feel bad makes me feel bad too.
"I should've called home. My apologies. It won't happen again."
"Promise?"
"Promise."
"Really?"
"I cross my heart and swear to die if I break my promise."
Satisfied, I chirped. "I'll go prepare the bath for you! Just sit here and I'll call you when it's ready!"
"You're the best, Tay."

I skipped upstairs, knowing that Calvin would always be faithful to me. He won't stay a whole night out without letting me know. He never did. He never will.

I took a handful of dried peppermint leaves and a sprinkle of lavender blossoms, wrapped them in a small cloth and let the parcel soak in the bathtub. I then added a few drops of spearmint oil to freshen the water and waited for 15-20 minutes for it's fragrance to completely diffuse into the water. Homemade baths are always the best.

Sometimes i wonder why i dont work as a bath-soap creator.

When the bath was ready, i headed downstairs to call Calvin, but i realised he wasn't there.

"Calvin? Your bath is ready!"

No response.

"Calvin?"

I walked to where he was sitting on the couch just 20 minutes ago.

Not here.

Ah yes, the kitchen. Maybe he went to get a glass of water?

"Honey!"

He wasn't there.

Maybe the washroom?
