I'm updating two chapters because I didn't update on Monday like I was supposed to. Enjoy!
Being underwater is the coolest, but being underwater at a magical lake by a school that teaches magic is extra amazing. I swam towards the bottom of the lake just to see what I could find and what I found was beyond what I was expecting.
There were ruins everywhere, but there were lake creatures swimming through them. Among those creatures were strange mermaid like things. They weren't mermaids exactly, but that is the closest word you could get to naming this species.
I made sure to stay unnoticed and I swam around the ruins to get a better view. I eventually turned around so I could go back to where Harry and Ron were waiting. Before I could reach the surface, a tentacle wrapped around my waist and I panicked for a second. I turned around the best I could and found myself face to eyeball with a giant squid.
Food? I heard the squid say in my head. Besides being able to breathe underwater, this was one of the coolest things I've ever could do.
No, I'm not food. I thought back. This was weird.
What are you then? It asked letting go of me. I swam in place and hoped I didn't look stupid doing that.
I'm Percy Jackson, but if you want food, I have some cakes in my pocket if you want them. I replied in my head. It did a kind of a shrug and I took the now cakes out of my pocket and handed it to the squid.
I'm Steve. The squid said after eating.
I need to go. I probably gave my friends a scare jumping into this lake and staying under so long. I thought to Steve. But I'll visit again.
Steve nodded and swam away. I swam back to the surface to where Ron and Harry were pacing and talking to each other in whispers.
"You two talking about me?" I asked startling both of them. Ron grabbed his heart in a way that resembled a heart attack.
"You've been down there for thirty minutes, Percy!" Harry exclaimed. "We thought you drowned."
"I'm a son of Poseidon. That would be impossible." I said with a smirk.
"Let's go get dinner. I'm starving." Ron said rolling his eyes and walking in the direction of the great hall.
~Time Skip~
"Typical," said Harry darkly. "Just what I always wanted. To make a fool of myself on a broomstick in front of Malfoy." I laughed bitterly.
"I can't even go near one. If I even try to ride one, I might get struck by lightning." I said. I wasn't allowed to ride one, but I was allowed to stay in that class and learn (read talk to my friends).
"You don't know that you'll make a fool of yourself, Harry." Said Ron reasonably. "Anyway, I know Malfoy's always going on about how good he is at Quidditch, but I bet that's all talk."
Tension certainly was high. Even Hermione Granger was nervous. The tension caused fights about flying and other sports like soccer and whether it was boring or not.
The most nervous person could easily be Neville who seemed to be dreading the flying class. The mail arrived and thankfully the owls decided only to maim me mildly. The rest of breakfast went by fast and eventually classes started and just as quickly ended.
The class was a mix of Gryffindors and Slytherins. I was currently standing near Harry and Ron. Ron gave me a strange look when he noticed I didn't have a broom and it obvious he didn't remember what we discussed at breakfast.
"Remember my uncle doesn't like me to fly." I said hoping my point would get across. He nodded and gave me a thumbs up to say he understood. Draco's hand went up and Madam Hooch motioned for him to ask his question.
"Why isn't Jackson riding a broom?" He asked curiously. Trust Draco to stick his nose where it doesn't belong.
"Mr. Jackson was cursed and his curse stops him from riding a broom. If he tries he'll get struck by lightning or thrown off his broom." Madam Hooch stated using the story we agreed upon when we realized flying wasn't the best idea for me. Draco looked like he was going to say something, but was cut off by Madam Hooch who started giving instructions.
I watched, but in the end I was half paying attention to what was happening. I started thinking about the dreams and I could feel the familiar guilt gnawing at conscience
"Come back boy!" Madam Hooch shouted, snapping me back into the present. Neville was rising straight up and it was obvious Neville was terrified. Neville slipped off his broom sideways and crash-landed. The broom flew off into the forbidden forest and Madam Hooch took Neville to the infirmary.
No sooner were they out of earshot than Malfoy burst into laughter.
"Did you see his face, the great lump?" Malfoy laughed and the other Slytherins joined in.
"Shut up, Malfoy," snapped Parvati Patil.
Verbal fighting broke out and eventually Malfoy took it too far by stealing Neville's Remembering thing and by testing Harry. I realized the look on Harry's face and recognized it. He had a look that said he was about to do something stupid.
"Bad idea, Harry." I exclaimed as he grabbed his broom. "I'll beat him up later." I added, but he ignored me.
"Stop. Madam Hooch told us not to move- you'll get us all in trouble." Hermione Granger shouted. Harry ignored her to and went after Malfoy via broomstick. I searched the surroundings in hopes of not discovering a teacher. I quickly spotted McGonagall.
"HARRY POTTER!"
I turned to Harry and saw he was on the ground again and Professor McGonagall was running toward them.
"Never-in all my time at Hogwarts-" McGonagall started. Eventually McGonagall lead Harry away and all I hoped was Harry wouldn't get expelled. At least with detention, I could find a way to get in trouble and keep him company.
But something else happened altogether.
Imma stop there and you'll have to wait till tomorrow or next Monday for what I have planned for them.
