"Wonder what it's like to have a peaceful life," Ron sighed, as evening after evening we struggled through all the extra homework we were getting. Hermione had now started making them study schedules for all of us and it was driving most of us insane.

Percy had politely accepted it seeing as how she wrote his in Greek and tried to stick to it best he could. He only commented 'that it was a good idea, but then again how well would schedules last with their luck'.

Then, one breakfast time, Hedwig brought Harry another note from Hagrid. He had written only two words: It's hatching.

Ron and Percy wanted to skip Herbology and go straight down to the hut, but Hermione wouldn't hear of it.

"Hermione, how many times in our lives are we going to see a dragon hatching?" Ron pleaded.

"Yeah, what he said!" Percy added with puppy-dog eyes and a pout.

"We've got lessons, we'll get in trouble..."

I stopped listening to Hermione speak as I noticed something else.

"Shut up!" I whispered.

"Rude." Percy muttered, but he was aware of our current problem.

Malfoy was only a few feet away and he had stopped dead to listen. How much had he heard? I definitely didn't like the look on Malfoy's face at all.

Despite the possibility of being found out, Ron and Hermione argued all the way to Herbology.

"Five bucks they start wrestling." Percy whispered nonchalantly to me.

"Bucks?" I questioned. It was no doubt currency, but it didn't sound like an English pound or Galleon.

"American dollar." Percy responded.

"Fine, we'll go during morning break." Hermione said finally reaching a compromise.

It was hard for all of us to pay attention to any thing Herbology-related with the dragon hatching to look forward to. When the bell sounded from the castle, the four of us dropped our trowels immediately and hurried through the grounds to the edge of the forest.

Percy practically sprinted there and beat Ron, who was trying to pass him up. Hagrid greeted us, looking flushed and excited.

"It's nearly out." He ushered us inside quickly.

The egg was lying on the table. There were deep cracks in it. Something was moving inside; a funny clicking noise was coming from it. We all drew up chairs to the table and we watched with bated breath.

All at once there was a scraping noise and the egg split open. The baby dragon flopped onto the table. It wasn't exactly pretty; I though it looked like crumpled, black umbrella. Its spiny wings were huge compared to its skinny jet body, it had a long snout with wide nostrils, the stubs of horns and bulging, orange eyes.

As it sneezed, a couple of sparks flew out of its snout.

"Isn't he beautiful?" Hagrid muttered. He reached out a hand to stroke the dragon's head. It snapped at his fingers, showing pointed fangs.

"Bless him, look, he knows his mommy!" Said Hagrid.

"Awesome." Percy breathed in awe. "Can I be the Godfather?"

"Sure, Percy." Hagrid answered, still focused on the dragon

"Hagrid," said Hermione, "how fast do Norwegian Ridgebacks grow, exactly?"

Hagrid looked up and was about to answer when suddenly the color suddenly drained from his face--he leapt to his feet and ran to the window.

"What's the matter?"

"Someone was lookin' through the gap in the curtains--it's a kid--he's runnin' back up ter the school."

Harry bolted to the door and looked out. Even at a distance there was no mistaking him.

Malfoy had seen the dragon.

"I'm going after him." Percy said, about to rocket through the door before Hermione grabbed his robes. He tried to keep running, but Ron grabbed his robes too.

"Stop it, Percy." Hermione said still trying to hold him back. "You'll just get yourself into trouble."

Percy stopped running and turned to face us.

"I know that, but if I caught up to him I could just convince him otherwise." Percy said earnestly.

"How?" Hermione questioned. Before Percy could answer, Hagrid seemed to have made up his mind and spoke.

"You four need ter get back ter the castle. Don' want ter get yer into any trouble on my behalf." Hagrid said to us.

"But Hagrid, it's our-" I began.

"No, it's not, Harry." Hagrid interrupted. "Now go before somethin' else happens."

Hagrid shooed us outside and we began our journey back to the castle.

"Big-mouth Malfoy. Probably told half the school by now." Percy stewed.

"I know what you mean, mate." Ron agreed. "It's people like him that like to ruin good things."

"Let's hope he'll keep his mouth shut." I said half-heartedly.

"That'll be the day." Percy muttered.

We walked back up to the castle for the remainder of the trip in silence. I knew we each desperately hoped Malfoy, for whatever reason wouldn't tell a soul.

I very much doubted that.

Yay! I followed through with a promise! I have finished another chapter and one with Harry's point of view.

Til next week (maybe),
