The picture above has nothing to do with this chapter. I just felt the need to share it.
"You're joking." Said Ron.
It was dinnertime. Harry had just finished telling Ron and I what happened when he'd left the grounds with Professor McGonagall. Ron had a piece of steak and kidney pie halfway in his mouth, but he'd forgotten all about it.
"Seeker?" He said. "But first years never-you must be the youngest house player in about-"
This information was a lot to take in. That day on the field Harry was incredible on that broomstick.
"-a century," said Harry, shovelling pie into his mouth. He seemed especially hungry after the excitement of this afternoon. "Wood told me."
"That's great, Harry, but remember that brooms are dangerous and could at anytime drop you." I warned.
"Percy, the paranoia is talking again." Harry said teasingly. "I start training next week, only don't tell anyone, Wood wants to keep it a secret." I pantomimed pulling a zipper across my lips to show I would keep the secret.
I spotted Fred and George walking into the hall, notice Harry and ran over. Those two were always great to hang out with.
"Well done," said George in a low voice. "Wood told us. We're on the team too-Beaters."
I tried to listen to exactly what they were saying, but then I noticed Draco and his goons, Crabbe and Goyle walking over to where we were sitting.
"Having a last meal, Potter?" When are you getting the train back to the Muggles?" Malfoy sneered.
"You're a lot braver now that you're back on the ground and you've got your little friends with you," said Harry coolly. I was surprised that Harry could restrain himself. If it had been me, I probably would've smacked Malfoy.
"I'd take you on anytime on my own," said Malfoy. "Tonight, if you want. Wizard's duel. Wand's only- no contact. What's the matter? Never heard of a wizard's duel before, I suppose?"
"Of course he has," said Ron, wheeling around. "I'm his second, who's yours?"
At this point, all I could do was try to look like I knew what it was they were talking about. I gave a glare at Crabbe and Goyle and they flinched remembering what I did to them on the train.
"Crabbe," he said. "Midnight all right? We'll meet you in the trophy room; that's always unlocked."
When Malfoy left, we looked at each other. Harry was possibly in over his head.
"What is a wizard's duel?" Said Harry. "And what do you mean you're my second?"
"Well, a second's there to take over if you die," said Ron casually.
"In other words, you've handed Harry a death sentence." I translated. Ron gave me an irked look.
"That's not what I meant." Ron said crossly. "People only die in proper duels, you know with real wizards. The most you and Malfoy'll be able to do is send sparks at each other. Neither of you knows enough magic to do any real damage. I bet he expected you to refuse, anyway."
"And what if I wave my wand and nothing happens?" Harry asked.
"Throw it away and punch him on the nose," Ron suggested.
I was about to comment on that when I was interrupted by a certain brainiac.
"Excuse me." We turned around and found our selves face to face with Hermione Granger.
"Can't a person eat in peace in this place?" Grumbled Ron. I counted on my fingers how many times we've been disrupted and shook my head no in response to Ron's question.
Hermione gave him the cold shoulder and spoke to Harry.
"I couldn't help overhearing what you and Malfoy were saying-"
"Bet you could," Ron muttered earning a sharp poke from me on his side.
"-and you mustn't go wandering around the school at night, think of the points you'll lose to Gryffindor if you're caught, and you're bound to be. It's really very selfish of you."
"He's defending his honour." I exclaimed. I felt like that line was from a movie. It must've been a good movie if I remember it. Getting off track. Stupid ADHD.
"It's really none of your business." Said Harry to Hermione.
"Good-bye," said Ron. With that she left us to discuss the midnight duel.
I know this ubber short, but I wanted y'all to at least get a piece of a chapter for this week.
