His Best Friend

Chapter 14

The afternoon seemed to have taken forever to arrive. Ashley, Andy, and I were sitting in the living room in the most awkward silence. I didn't know how to start this needed conversation.

"Aly and I do have some news for you Andy."

Finally Ashley had said something. I didn't know how much more silence I could have taken.
I looked over at Ashley hoping he would be the one to tell him, but that wasn't the case.

"I'm, we, are having a baby Andy."

I couldn't read his facial expressions at all. Was he mad? Upset? Sad? Disappointed? Or did he just not care?

"Wow. Congrats, guys."

Andy seemed genuinely happy about our news, which was surprising.

"So, only three more days until you marry Juliet, huh?"

"Yeah, you are coming, right Als?"

I really didn't want to, but I had to keep reminding myself I had promised Ashley I would go.

"Of course. I promised Ashley."

With that, Andy left not looking so thrilled.

Wedding

It was the day of Andy and Juliet's wedding and I was getting ready. I put on a simple long sundress that showed off my baby belly while Ashley had on a suit since he's the best man.

"You ready to go?"

Ashley scared me and made me jump.

"Yeah, I am."

He smiled at me as we got into the car.

Much time had passed while we waited for the wedding to start. It was supposed to be at four and it's been thirty minutes that Andy still hasn't shown up. Where the hell is he?

I told Ashley I was going to go look for him and after a few minutes I finally did. He was sitting by himself with his hands over his face. I knew something had to be going on with him.

"Andy what's wrong?"

He looked up at me with a tear in his eyes.

"I can't do it, Al."

I felt relieved, but sad at the same time. I didn't know what to say to him. Yay? Go fix the problem? I didn't know. Luckily, he kept talking so I wouldn't have to.

"I just, I can't marry Juliet. I can't do it."

"Why?"

I knew of a million reasons as to why, but it wasn't the time nor place to give my opinion right now. What Andy said next completely stunned me. I didn't know what to do or what to say. I knew what I should have said, but I didn't.

"Because I love you Alyssandra. I should have realized it sooner before I proposed and before you got pregnant with Ashley's baby. Before I met Juliet even. You were there the whole time and I didn't do a damn thing about it."

I stared at Andy not saying a word. Why now?
