Melody HATED not being in the loop of what was going on in her best friend's life, so naturally when Monday rolled around they met up for lunch and her questions started.

"So, tell me again." Lynn pauses to chew a piece of her fruit salad. "Why are you interviewing me?"

"L, shut up. I'm just curious what it's like to have a hot brother." The brunette admits with a sigh,"All I have is Dion, and he's as hot as....well...he's not."

"Hey! Dion has his charms." The taller female disputes, defending her friend. "Who else can burp the alphabet?"

Melody grimaces, turning her attention to her half eaten burger. She wasn't in the mood to eat, especially not knowing she had a test today, they always made her extra anxious and not even good food could fix it.

"Ugh, it was so awkward after you left. He kept asking why we wanted to marry Guy Fieri so badly. I just couldn't change the subject.." the blonde cringed.

Melody snorts, taking a bite of her apple. Her lunch is over soon and she's dreading her test, it's on everything they've learned over the last two years. Miss Fish Brain isn't too thrilled about it, but as usual she'll wing it and hope for the best.

Lunch ends sooner than it began and Melody finds herself fiddling with her pen mid-exam, unsure of what to write other than 'i don't know what the fuck i'm doing' and 'help me'. She eventually snaps into a rhythm of answering the questions the best she can, when the bell rings Melody is the first one to leave.

She heads home and is greeted by her baby, Sugar, the Samoyed puppy. The tiny cloud jumps up into her mom's arms and licks her face repeatedly. Melody smiles at the warm welcome and they sit on the couch for hours, until Melody passes out.

She awakes a few hours later to the sound of her phone buzzing and answers it with her eyes still shut, Her eyes snap open when she hears the voice.

"Hey, thought you were avoiding me!" A familiar voice chirps, "Come over, please."

"Lynn, I am going to kill you." Melody snarls, half joking.

She slips off the sofa and changes into some black leggings, fluffy socks and a red oversized hoodie, before calling an Uber. No way in hell is she walking to Lynn's on a cold, dark night.

While she waits, her eyes focus on an unopened letter on her dresser, addressed to her from Kaden Dalton. Even saying his name mentally fills her with pangs of regret, it had been over a year and she still didn't have the guts to open it.

Her and Kaden, had been incredibly complicated and so much happened so quickly, it was heartbreaking and exhilarating all at once– until it all came crashing down and she was left to pick up the pieces. She still had pictures of them buried keep in her bedside drawer, but she refused to look at them.

Melody didn't have anymore time to dwell on the past, she got in her Uber and headed to Lynn's. The two had been inseparable since they were seven years old, even though their friendship had started with Lynn throwing a rock at Melody's head, they'd grown since and all had been forgiven.

Well, except for the time Melody 'borrowed' Lynn's rainbow pencil.

"Melody-Joyce! What a surprise!" Percy exclaims when he opens the door, Melody grins and they hug for a second.

"Hey, Dad." She jokes, before heading upstairs to see Lynn.

Once instead the comfort of what she considers her second bedroom, Melody sets herself down on the purple beanbag chair and sighs in content; Lynn raises an eyebrow at her in disbelief.

"Wow, Mel. I don't even get a hello?"

"Hey," Melody greets with a peace sign,"What's good?"

"I'm meeting Jaydon and Benjamin tomorrow, and Sunny's flying over on Friday." Lynn states, "I could be wrong but...I have a feeling Dad and Giselle are getting married sooner rather than later."

Melody's eyes practically pop out of her head and she squeals excitedly, "I get to get a nice dress!"

"Mel! This is bigger than a nice dress." Lynn snaps, "I'm getting brothers! and they have dogs! Incase you hadn't notice, I'm a cat mum and I like being alone!"

Her brunette friend shakes her head while laughing, "This is bigger than you too, babes. You didn't think your Dad would stay single forever, did you?"

Lynn huffs, sitting down on top of her shorter friend and leaning against her. It had been her and her Dad for a long time now, ever since her older sister Sunny had relocated back to England five years ago. She did have her cats, Mike (a Himalayan) and Janet (Scottish Straight hair) but that was it. Now their little family was also tripling in size and Lynn was terrified.

"I know, I'm happy for him, it's just..." The blonde trails off, with an exasperated sigh. "A big change."

"Mm." Melody hums, smoothing over her best friend's hair. "Just think about Luke."

"What?" Lynn squeaks, her face contorting to disgust. "How is that going to help me?"

Melody pushes her best friend up onto her bed and shrugs, "He's...motivational, that's all I'm saying."

Lynn rolls her eyes, using her long legs to her advantage and kicking her best friend jokingly.

"Shut up and put on Ricky and Morty."

It's not long until they're interrupted by a knock on the door and Percy popping his head through.

"Kids, there's some people I'd like you to meet."
