Luke knew exactly what was happening in the next few days, two weeks ago Percy has asked for his mother's hand in marriage officially, which he thought was respectable. He'd heard that Percy's older daughter, Sunny, was flying in and his younger brothers were also coming for a 'surprise' announcement.
He'd seen it coming for a long time, Percy was perfect for his mom and they'd been dating over two years which is twenty years to people over forty. Truthfully, he was over the moon for them but it was just hard getting used to merging into one big family.
His brothers would be fine but this was Luke's third time having a new father, first his horrible birth father, then Jayden and Ben's father who was as kind as could be and now Pierce, the one with the weird daughter.
She was weird to him in a good way, seemed nice enough and easy to get along with. However he didn't know anything about Sunny other than she worked in England and was a certified smart-aleck, according to her dad.
He was currently downstairs with his youngest brother, Jayden, better known by his nickname "Jade". It all started because he loved walking into a room and waiting for people to expect a typical Jade, you know, a woman. It amused him to no end, thus permanently earning him the nickname.
Ben, as usual, was running late. He'd been in New Zealand the last year studying his ass off to ace an apprenticeship as a Marine Biologist. Thankfully, it seemed to be paying off, despite having to get another job to try cover basic living expenses.
"Well, well, look who finally showed up!" Giselle cheers, wrapping her arms around her second eldest son, Benjamin.
"Sorry, mum." He apologizes with a gentle smile, "Missed you."
They're interrupted by Lynn and a girl Luke knows as "Mel" running into the room and awkwardly standing there, before sidelining to the trays filled with food and tucking in. Percy enters with room with a cake, sparklers on the top while everyone sings 'happy birthday' to Giselle.
She blows out her sparklers and cuts her cake, giving the first slice to her soon-to-be husband. The cake is passed around and everyone mingles and chats among the sizable crowd. The brothers stay together, it's been quite a while since they were all in the same room and they're not sure when they'll got the opportunity to have their beloved banter sessions again.
"Jade, you're graduating next year. What're you set on?" Ben quizzes, while the youngest brother focusing on finishing his second slice of cake.
"Hm, I'm thinking perhaps being a Radiologic Technologist, it sticks out to me the most." He replies after a thoughtful moment of cake swallowing.
Although he still had childish tendencies and a somewhat baby-like face, there was no doubt Jayden was the brainiest of the bunch. He'd moved up a year and was graduating early, with glowing references from all his teachers.
