Once there was a small hamlet called Tenebris Village that was in a world where there was no sun or stars to light the sky, no day and no night.

There was no such thing as moonbeams or moon light to shine the way, nothing like the way it was before.

The flow of time was recognized by the natural cycles of the bioluminescent plants and animals that occupied the land. A fire in the town square was lit for twelve hours and, extinguished for another twelve as a reminder of the days and nights they had hundreds of years ago.

In the town there was a thirteen year old girl named Luna. The girl was excited for her father to get home from hunting because she was tired of lavacados; which is plant that needs heat to grow.

Luna was the daughter of the chief of the village but, she never listened to him.

Her father assigned the village elder, Esther, to tutor his daughter.

Luna didn't like her though she always thought she was crazy.

Her tutor would go on and on about how Luna was "the chosen heir, to something far greater than village chief!" It drove the young girl crazy.

Today, once again, Grandmother Esther was tutoring her. It was once again the end of the lesson, and the elder was saying she couldn't wait for there to be more light than just the glowing plants.

"Grandmother Esther, are you sure you're not going a bit, ya know... senile?" Luna questioned raising an eyebrow at her elder.

The elder just chuckled. "Hmm... You will understand one day child, one day..."

"Ah, Grandmother Esther, how was the lesson? Did Luna behave herself? The chief asked as her he entered the room, glancing at his daughter.

"As perfect as always, Taka. You and Aurra have raised a wonderful child. Your daughter will be a great leader one day." The elder smiled at the chief and nodded.

"Well, I be off then." Grandmother Esther wished them farewell before leaving.

When she left, Luna turned to face her father.

"Was your hunting trip successful?" She asked hopefully.

Her father sighed and shook his head.

"Something came up. Seems like we'll just have lavacados for dinner."

"That... That's fine..." Luna mumbled before shuffling to the kitchen.
