Slowly opening her eyes, Yeri was greeted by an unfamiliar ceiling. It was a white ceiling filled with lights that glowed so bright it could blind her. One thing she knew is that she was not in that house anymore. The female tried to move but all she felt was ache all over her body. It was that time that she realized she had a cast on her head and on her body. Right, she is in a hospital right now. But she could not really remember what happened last night.
All she remembered was that she and her parents had a very serious fight and she was furious and then...
"Ugh," she groaned as she held her head casted in a bandage, "What the hell happened—"
"Oh, you're finally awake."
Yeri looked at the owner of that voice. It was all strange for her. A man who seemed to be in his early 20s came marching towards her— it was the owner of the voice.
"Who are you? And where is this place?" was the first thing she said when he sat down on a chair beside her bed, "It's all vague."
"That's only natural," he gave her an assuring smile, "You are in a hospital. You slept for five days. Let's say... someone found you unconscious and they brought you here. I'm Kim Seokjin, by the way," Yeri eyed him, scrutinizing him, questioning herself if she could trust this man. "I don't want to surprise you, but that night, you looked pretty terrifying."
"Huh— I... what happened last night? I can't remember," she again held her head, trying to dig what happened to her and her parents.
"I'll tell you everything, but at least not now. Not in that state. You need to recover first," Jin stood up and walked up to the door, "I just came to check on you. And it looks like you're doing just fine now that you're conscious. I'm going."
"Mr. Kim!" she yelled, "I cannot recover fast if my mind is full of unanswered question. I can't wait anymore. Please tell me what happened— to my parents and to the house. Because the last thing I remembered was the fire engulfing our house."
"Are you sure about this?" Seokjin turned around as he walked back towards Yeri, "Are you really sure?"
The girl just nodded. Yeri was not sure it was the right thing to ask about it but she felt desperate, knowing that their house might have gone down to ashes, that all the things her sister left her at her room might be all gone before she could even reach out to it. She needed to know.
"Right now, you are at the recovery room of the Engeniune, a company that trains... special people. People like you," there followed a dead air after. Yeri's breathe hitched, and Seokjin was quietly observing her.
"Like me?" the short-haired girl asked. "What about me?"
Seokjin slid his brown hair back, seemingly frustrated and hesitant to tell the girl. He heaved a sigh before continuing, "You know what, it's really not the time, please. I'll get going."
"What happened to the house?" she said, a strong sense of determination was heard within it. The man pressed his lips in a thin line — this won't work — he thought.
The man sighed as he looked at her worriedly, "You burned it down." es
"Burned it down, what are you talking about?" Yeri was flustered. Sure, she remembered the house on fire, but what does he mean she burned it down?
"I told you, you will be confused. I'll promise, I will tell you everything and explain everything to you," Jin started standing up once again, this time, he won't listen to any of Yeri's pleas.
"Hold on, I need to go to that house. Get me out of here," Yeri tried to take off the IV attached to her, "I-I need to see if all of my sister's item is there."
