Unknown POV

The class was noisy but not so much that you couldn't concentrate on your work. I opened the first page. Oh! I love how new books smell. No, I am not a nerd. Never was, never will be. I just love books. But that doesn't mean I don't have a social life. You could actually call me a social butterfly. I had already made a lot of friends here and had also impressed the seniors. Good enough for me.

I started reading. Not even a paragraph was over and I came across a line that I thought was important. So, I decided to acknowledge my highlighter. I took my pouch out and was trying to take the highlighter out, when my pen rolled out of my pouch and fell towards the left. It was out of my reach. So, I decided to ask the person on my left to pick it up.

I turned to my left and asked," Excuse me can..." but I stopped mid-way because before I finished she had already put the pen on my table. She was pretty alert. But she didn't even glance at me. She was too busy reading a book. That's when I actually noticed her. She was a brunette , and her face was very familiar. It felt like Deja-Vu but decided to ignore the instinct.

"Thank y..," again I stopped mid-way. This time because she waved her hand in a dismissive manner, not taking her eyes of the book even for a second. I was pretty amused by her attitude. I craned my neck to see which book she was reading. And then the bell rang.

"Oh now I understand why she is so eager to read it. Its Harry Potter after all." I thought to myself. I was a huge fan myself. I couldn't help but ask," Are you re-reading the series? If not I am very surprised that you didn't read it at all in your school years."

She just rolled her eyes and looked up from the book, now facing me. When my eyes met hers, for once second I thought that I was staring into my own eyes.

I was the first one who recovered from this daze but she didn't. To say she was shocked was an understatement. She was more like terrified. Her mouth was hanging open and it looked like her eyes could pop out any moment.

That's when the teacher entered. "Good morning class," she said as she entered through the door. Her height was a little more than average, had strands of grey hair here and there which could be seen in her bun. She was quite thin and looked as though she was in her mid-forties. She looked very professional, wearing her blazer and pencil skirt, and pencil heels. She wore her reading glasses which rested on the bridge of her nose. She reached her desk, put her books on the table and stood there not moving for a good time 45 seconds as her eyes travelled across the room, with her head low so she could see above her reading glasses. I could sense how the whole class had gone quiet. Probably because of her intimidating stare. It was as though she could see right through us.

By this time the girl sitting on my left had recovered from whatever shock she got. Her earphones and book were in her desk and she looked as though she was the most obedient student in the world. A teacher's pet.

"I will be taking the subject marketing. My name is Kelly Jordan. I would like you all to introduce yourselves first."

Miss Jordan's eyes once again scanned the whole room. Then she pointed at me. " Why don't you do the honours of beginning this session by introducing young man."

It was more like an order than a request but I obediently stood up introduced myself and sat back down. I didn't pay attention when others were introducing themselves though. I just started reading the book on marketing again.

Soon everybody had introduced themselves and Miss Jordan had started explaining the first topic. The whole time the girl on my left kept throwing me sideways glances while taking notes and having an indirect competition with a boy at the back of the class, seeing who would answer more of Miss Jordan's questions. Probably to make a good impression on the teacher. Yeah, mostly.

She was good I must say. She knew a lot about this. I made a mental note to be prepared for a tough competition this year.

[ OMG!!! A double update. Yes it is for apologising for keeping you people waiting for sooo long.
