Hailey's POV
HOW IS THIS FREAKING POSSIBLE. It was like ... like... No NO ITS NOT POSSIBLE. This is so frustrating. I quietly put my book and ipod inside my desk, as the teacher entered. I didn't get the name of the boy sitting to my right. I was too shocked when he introduced himself. When my turn came I introduced myself and sat down quietly. Oh, how much I regretted not focusing to know his name. Miss Jordan seemed too strict so I couldn't even ask him. He looked too young to be in University. This is just so weird.
And then I decided that it would be the best for me if I concentrated on what ma'am was teaching. I could deal with this drama later. Ma'am kept asking questions in between her explanation, which I kept answering. Well I answered most of them. There was this boy at the back who also answered a few. What did he think of himself?! I was always the topper in school, and will be here too. ALWAYS.
Even though I was having a silent battle with the boy at the back, and was taking notes of what ma'am was saying, I still couldn't help, but give glances towards the boy. Hoping that this time when I looked, he would look different. Hoping that it was just my mind playing tricks on me. But no, his appearance didn't even budge. Even after the bell had rung, I was writing one last line in my notebook. After I looked up, I realized he was already gone. I turned towards the door. I ran towards the door, trying to get through the crowd to him. But it was of no use. I screamed," Hey, Hhheeeyyyy!!! Wait up!....." It was as though he was ignoring me. But it didn't matter right now. I would probably see him in someother class, or maybe tomorrow during marketing.
We had lockers even in university. Strange? I know. With having our rooms just a few metres away, having a locker was unnecessary. But I still liked it. I headed to my lockers. Mine was 141. And Ashley's was 142. She was already there. I waved at her and she waved back. I quickly made my way towards her. I was just about to open my lockers, when I saw him. His locker was right beside Ashley's. 143. Ashley was in the way and was blabbering some nonsense. But all I could do was stare at the boy, the boy who was sitting to my right, the boy who was right now behind Ashley. This freaking cannot be happening.
I think Ashley noticed that I wasn't listening to her, not taking my books, but simply staring at something. Because at that moment she turned around. And she dropped her books in shock too, her face went white.
The boy "who sat to my right" probably heard the books falling because he finally acknowledged our presence, well actually Ashley's. She was taller than me and I don't think he noticed me. His face showed many emotions... Confusion? Amusement? And a lot more. Even though he was way younger than both of us, he still towered Ashley. And then he noticed me. I was just about to ask his name before he broke eye contact with me, looked back at her, gave her an embarrassed smile and ran away in another direction.
Ok now I am sure he is avoiding me. He surely know SOMETHING!
"Did you just see what I saw?" she asked still staring in the direction where he was standing some mere seconds ago.
I nodded my head furiously and then realized she couldn't see me. "Have been seeing since morning."
"WHAT?!" she said snapping her head in my direction. "He was sitting right to my right in the entire first period."
"And you are telling me now? What kind of a best friend doesn't share things with her best friend." She said looking hurt and betrayed.
I rolled my eyes at her overdramaticness . Is that even a word. I made a mental note to look it up in the dictionary later this evening. "We didn't have much of a chance to talk. Did we?" I said sarcastically.
Now it was her turn to roll her eyes." Oh shut up! We both have a free period right now. Lets go to the park, and you are telling me everything. I mean it. EVER-I-THI-NG. She said stressing on the word. Ok now I know she is really scared. Shouldn't I be the one, who is scared.
We went and sat down on one of the benches and I recited her my entire morning.
"So that's... that" I said, implying that I had said whatever I wanted to and that she could speak now.
Ashley was a really good listener. Yes. She was a very loud mouthed person, and funny and outgoing, but when it came to something serious, I swear she became more critical than.. well.. umm.. Oh come on you know what I mean!
After looking lost in some very important thoughts. She finally spoke still staring at nowhere in particular ," So what was his name, again?"
I seriously didn't want to answer this question. She would literally kill me. She still kept staring at whatever patiently waiting for my answer. Finally when I didn't answer, she looked up at me, and I tried my best to avoid meeting her gaze. I saw her raise a perfectly arched eyebrow at me from the peripheral of my vision and finally stood up throwing her hands up in the air.
"Are you freaking kidding me?!" she asked in a tone which clearly implied that she was disappointed in me.
I just gave her a shy fake smile. And started avoiding her gaze again. She just sat back down her shoulders bent and a look of hopelessness on her face.
After some moments of an awfully awkward silence. She finally sighed, breaking the silence, much to my pleasure.
"We will figure something out soon okay, Don't worry." She told me as she stood up giving me a look of reassurance.
She was the "most bestest friend"(I know its wrong English, me and Ashley made up that word when we were 7 years old) anyone could ever have. What would I do without this lady in my life... I don't know. I quickly got up and wrapped her up in a tight embrace, which she gladly returned, a little too tightly though.
"Ash... Can't... Bre..eathe.." I said in between my struggled breaths. She quickly loosened her hands around me. And then when we made eye-contact we just couldn't control it anymore and stared laughing like maniacs.
A lot of students passing by gave us strange looks, but we couldn't care more. Because as long as we had each other, we didn't need anything.
[Phew!!!.. That was one loonnngg chapter. Around 1250 words. Anyways from now on I will try to be more regular. And all I need in return, like I have already said many times before is ALOT OF VOTES. So please don't forget to
