A/N:
Hey guys! Hope you're all having a great day/night just wanted to thank each and  every single one of you for taking an interest in this story. I'm very excited about this.. I hope you enjoy reading the first chapter so here we go :))
_______________
Layla's POV.

I slowly lifted myself up from my comfy bed, looking around the almost empty bedroom, smiling to myself...Ok...Today was the day, I was all packed and set to finally head off and start a brand new chapter in my life. Honestly all this time I felt as if my life was put on hold and how I couldn't wait to get out there again. I stared ahead, my eyes hovering over a pink wall as I had all these thoughts rushing out of my head.

I then quickly snapped back to reality. I sighed with relief while stepping out of my bed. I walked over to my window and slid the curtains open. revealing the weather outside. It looked slightly gloomy and dull like it was going to rain. But what was I expecting, I live in the UK afterall. Gosh, it's only early September can't there be a little sunshine atleast? I frowned at my window I then went to the bathroom to freshen up and start to put on my makeup. Since I'll be moving around a lot for the majority of the day and lifting things up I just went for a light natural look.

After 30 minutes I was all ready. I wore a light blue denim oversized shirt that had been tucked in, paired with black jogger trousers.. I had a plain navy cotton headscarf on. It was tied around my neck exposing the shirt's collar. After taking one last glance at the mirror I ran downstairs for breakfast.

When I walked into the kitchen, I saw that my mum was already there preparing food for the long ride to London, which will take 2 hours.
"Kamon aso Moyna?" (How are you sweetie) she asked while I filled up the kettle with water from the sink. "Bhalo asi" (I'm good) I replied with a hint of a smile. "ShobKisu ready asseh?' She asked meaning if everything was ready I nodded yes. " I've still got a few things left" I explained "ok" she simply nodded before packing the food containers into plastic bags.

I took my tea and bowl of cereal into the dining room. I placed the breakfast on the table and sat down to eat. I had the chocolate crunchy nut clusters by Kelloggs. Regardless of it being quite unhealthy I didn't care, it was my favourite. Also, I kinda felt that It was appropriate seeing as I was leaving home for awhile.

A few minutes went by...
I was sat there sipping my tea my mum walked into the dining room with a medium size pink gift bag. She placed it in front of me on the table I turned to look at her."sheta ki?" (What's this) I asked wondering what it could be. She gestured me to open it. So I stood up from the chair and picked it up and took the bag off the table. "Ohh it's heavy." I giggled. I walked over to the couch and sat down, I took a peak inside it and knowingly I then flashed a smile at my mum.

Firstly I picked out a mint green card, decorated with cute baby pink lace attached around the edges. It had little red roses engraved on the sides. On the centre it read out "Goodbye and best wishes." Seems like she couldn't wait to get rid of me...

I opened the card up to see a scruffy handwritten paragraph. It was probably written by my little brother Aamin. It read out "To our only daughter and sister, we wish you all the best in your studies. Hope you work hard and enjoy your time away from home. Make Sure to be careful and visit your cousins regularly. We love you very much. P.S . Don't try coming back from Aamin and the family." Oh Aamin, he's just so extra.

I looked down at the card, gently nodding my head from side to side while smiling. This certainly did make my heart warm up. I looked up to see that mum had a stroke of tear sliding down her right cheek. I quickly got up and held her in a tight embrace "aww ammu don't cry" I squeaked. Mum laughed "Na moyna I'm happy, I'm really proud of you" she said. I slowly let go from her embrace and wiped a tear from her cheek.

I took the rest of the things out of the polished pink bag. There was so much chocolates and little cupcakes yumm I licked my lips. I didn't feel like leaving home at that point, my family were so sweet!

"Bring everything downstairs, your sasa is coming soon with the car'" Sasa means uncle.. I put everything back into the bag and went upstairs to grab a few of my stuff. My dad helped me with the big boxes, they were really heavy. I didn't even know I had that many stuff.

An hour just flew by.
"Ding dong" I hear the door bell ring. My mum went through to the hallway and opened the door to my uncle. He'll be driving us to my University accommodation. My heart was racing, I felt as If I was gonna collapse at that moment. I started feeling extremely anxious. That's when it hit me I'll be away from home! No parents, living independently and I won't know anyone there. Although everyone will be on the same boat it's such a scary thing.

All the boxes were left stacked in the hallway. I slipped on my black laced ballet flats and carefully picked up the boxes one by one and carried them into the car boot. I was worried if there wasn't going to be enough space in the car but Alhamduillah (Praises to God) everything seemed like it fit.

Eventually, it was time to go. I hugged my dad and said my goodbyes to Aamin and Rifat, while walking straight over to the back passenger seats of my uncles gleaming silver Skoda. As I got into the car I gently shut the car door. I sat beside my mum who turned her face to give me a loving warm smile.

The car started to slowly move. As we drove off I reached into my leather handbag to grab my white earphones.and inserted them into each ear from underneath my scarf. Then plugged the earphone jack into my iPhone. I opened up the Music app and scrolled down my playlist filled with songs until I landed on Controlla by Drake. I put it on repeat I was addicted to it like crazy. Overall I really liked Drakes recent album "Views." I was jamming and lip syncing to the lyrics I was actually having a blast. After a few repeats, I got quite tired of the song. Instead I decided to play "Tears" by Adam Saleh and Zack Knight. While the song was playing, I stared outside into the distance. This song always made me think about life, like anything could happen at any moment and in reality life is very short.

I turned off the music because I thought it was enough for the time being. I leaned over to pick up one of the plastic bags that mum packed with food containers. I took the clear container out of the bag and popped the lid off to take a chicken samosa out. Samoas were my favourite. If I could I would eat them for the rest of my life oh and biriyani too of course. I chewed on the samosa the consistency was crunchy and soft, it was perfect! Man how I'm going to miss ammus cooking.

Moments had past and we were still on the motorway, it was getting very hot in the car so I pressed the window down. The cool breeze hovered touching every inch of my face. It made me relax a little and forget about the nerves. Even though the sky still looked gloomy the atmosphere was humid hence why it was a bit warm outside.

I enjoyed long car rides, they tend to clear my mind and get rid of all the negative thoughts that get crammed into my brain.
