A bead of sweat dripped down my face as I tried to pump my legs faster. By the way they were gaining on me, I knew this was the end of my freedom. The heavy footsteps that once trailed behind me were right on my heels. My legs suddenly gave out, mak...

15 minutes later we got to the gang house. All three of us rushed in , slamming the door behind us.
Chris skipped up the stairs with me and Jessie following like little ducks. The meeting room's door was open, so nothing important was going on. We all shuffled in, taking a seat at the round table.
Damien sat at the end, looking confused as we all sat around staring at each other intently.
" What happened?", Damien asked.
Chris took a deep breath before starting, " We got a problem."
He explains the whole situation and his plan as if this wasn't a big deal and that it couldn't go wrong at any minute.
" We have to do it. We can't any leave witnesses behind and risk getting caught. We're already on FBI's Watchlist." Damien stated, " So tonight we go get her, bring her back here, and then we'll figure out what to do next."
Later That Night
We pulled up in front of a light-colored brick house labeled with 1568 in large, black numbers.
Everybody got out and quietly shut the doors to prevent waking up any neighbors.
Jogging to the backyard, I stopped looked through the window located on the side. I heard Chris trying to open the patio door but it was locked.
I tapped lightly on the glass and tried to push up, but it wouldn't budge.
Jesse stifled a laugh, " Lemme get it Mr. No Upper Body Strength."
He pushed up on the glass, but it still wouldn't move.
"Ain't so easy, is it?, " I retorted, flicking an eyebrow up.
"You know, you gotta warm up first."
He started stretching his arms and accidentally flung his elbow into the glass causing it to shatter.
" See I told you it's all about warming up," he grinned before climbing through the opening. It wasn't long before we all were in, tiptoeing over the scattered pile of crystallized shards of glass.
Blindly traveling through this strange home I found myself in the cozy family room. The walls were covered with family pictures and motivational quotes.
This sparked my curiosity, so I walk over the white wall. I glare at the pictures of the happy family that reminds me of the one I lost. What catches my eye is an image surrounded by rhinestone encrusted frame. It was the same brown haired girl with deep dimples seemingly cheesing away life's worries.
I'm beginning to think that maybe this is a bad idea. Her family seems so happy, it would be a shame to put someone through the same thing I did. But, you gotta do what you gotta do.
" Are you sure she's the one? " Chris asked.
" Yeah, I recognized her when I saw her at the gas station. I even went back to the car to make sure that it was her." I explained.
I wave them over to the picture, " This is her."
" Well, you better find her. We don't want any loose ends.", Damien's gruff voice chimed in.
Following the steep staircase, I ended up in a room that looked like it belonged to a teenage girl.
I checked the closet while Chris checked under the bed. She has to be in one of those places. I flung open the door pushing, scooting, and throwing hangers left and right. I searched at the bottom but came up empty-handed.
"She's not in here. Let's go look in the basement" I suggested.
We scramble out of the room, proceeding towards the basement.
Reaching the bottom step, we ran into Jessie and Damien who checked the basement already.
"She's not up there."
"We know, no one is in the basement either. Maybe she left to go somewhere."
"Yeah, maybe... Let's just go."
We crawl back through the hole in the window and head up to the front to get back in the truck. We stand there for a second to collect our thoughts. Out of habit, I mentally count the number of people to make sure everyone was there. I only count 3.. Stupid Chris he does this every time!
I hear the front door creak open and see Chris walk out snacking on a sandwich.
" Really? You made a sandwich?!"
"What?.." he questions, bread crumbs flying out of his mouth, " I was hungry."
I roll my eyes and glance at the house across the street.
Jessie slaps my arm, " Aye.. do you see that? I swear somebody was just running."
I turn my head to see what he was looking at. I see a figure running but then it disappeared. I scan the area to look for any movement. It was silent for about 30 seconds before a phone went off.
" I didn't quite get that" I heard Siri say.
" She's down there!", I yell, sprinting towards that direction.
You know, I kinda feel bad. If it wasn't for Siri maybe she could've made it out alive.
