Snow
The fox
The ground is asleep under a white blanket of snow. A few blades of grass slip through to reach the light from the sunbeams, trying to reach through the clouds to touch the Earth. Snowflakes are still falling gently, making the snow deeper and there are small paw prints leading into the snow covered trees. A small, frost covered fox stalks a small brown rabbit. It presses against the ground, covering its belly with snow as the rabbit jumps a few feet, unsuspecting of the fox between the trees. The fox sneaks up closer, silently preparing to pounce.
It's just close enough.... It pounces. He wraps his jaw around the rabbit's neck, biting down hard. The rabbit flails about and tries to run away. The fox holds it down firmly with it's cold paws. The snow is soon stained a dark red as the rabbit stops struggling. The fox picks it up by the scruff of its neck and quickly runs through the trees, avoiding the mounds of snow falling off the trees every once in awhile
