Author's note: Alright, so hello again! I promise to update every Saturday given that I now have all the time I need to write for the summer break, so hello! Welcome to the main story of Adventures After School: Carla's recovery! I'm writing this novel as a script route because I have plans of making the whole Adventures After School series into a video game (pffft, like that could happen)!

So then, I'll be publishing chapters with music from time to time. I'll mark an area of the chapter with an asterisk (*) so that you would know when to play the music! Enjoy!!

Carla's phone started playing a beeping alarm. She sat up, took her phone from the bedside, and hit the stop button. She put her phone on her lap, yawning and stretching. She then rubbed the sleep out of her eyes and kicked her blanket off the lower half of her body.

She headed downstairs to take a shower. On the way to the bathroom, she saw Marina dancing awkwardly as she tried to flip pancakes without a spatula. Fortunately for her, she succeeded in her attempt—and that was her first. Her mouth formed a little O-shape at her accomplishment. Carla saw it, and smiled.

Once she entered the bathroom, Carla stepped into the bathtub and laid down. She was grateful Marina prepared the bath for her before she got up, but she felt dread settle on her. Today, as it turns out, was the first day of sophomore year for her.

"Forget it." Carla groaned. She stood up and turned the shower on.

Marina flipped more pancakes. She swung her hips and hummed a pop punk tune—probably Sum 41—and then turned off the stove after finishing the last pancake. She had successfully prepared two plates of breakfast for her and Carla.

She paced toward the refrigerator, opening it and taking out a bottle of maple syrup and a stick of butter. She took a knife from its shelter and scraped a generous amount of it from the slightly unwrapped stick. She spread the butter across her pancake, and then Carla's.

"Carla!"
"Yes?"
"Are you almost done?"
"Ninety-five percent!"
"Alright! You better be the one to pour the syrup on your pancakes—I might pour too much again!"

Marina smiled to herself. She took the butter and the syrup, opening the refrigerator again to store the two flavors. She then took out a carton of milk and kicked the fridge door to a close. She poured the milk on the two glasses she prepared beforehand. As much as Marina hated drinking milk for breakfast, she knew Carla loved to drink milk with her pancakes. She then decided to try—maybe she'd like it.

Eating breakfast would be the best part of the day for Marina. Since Carla came back from the dead, she decided not to take every single day with her younger sister for granted as she did—when Carla had her first shot at life.

Carla came out of the bathroom. She inhaled the smell of freshly cooked pancakes, and smiled. She then proceeded to run to her room. Once she opened the door, she saw Marina spreading out her school uniform on the bed. Marina's lips formed a little O-shape.

"Hey, Carly!" Marina giggled nervously.
"The hell are you doing?" Carla asked, smiling.
"Being a mom, duh!" Marina answered, approaching Carla and hugging her.
"Well, I guess you can't help it if both our parents are gone." Carla hugged her sister back.

Marina stroked her sister's hair, and went out of the room. As she did, she closed the door, too—because she knows Carla has always pointed out that she always leaves doors open wherever she goes. The thought made her smile.

Carla looked at her uniform. A sleeveless white blouse, a blue tennis skirt, and white over-the-knee socks were spread out for her in a symmetrical fashion. She also noticed a black necktie beside the blouse, and the black sleeves she always used to wear on her forearms. She looked forlornly at the sleeves and shook her head.
