I honestly feel like this is going to be the most perfect week.
My parents leaving for a week for a business trip and I'll be here having the time of my life, throwing what's probably gonna be the best party of the summer. (Without their permission of course.)
I mean, sure, my parents could find out that I'm throwing a party here, while they think I'm having a sleep over with my friends, but that's a 1% chance.
And I might actually get a chance to talk to Rachel Troy, my current crush.
I've actually had a crush on her since the end of the school year a month after my last girlfriend, Melanie, broke up with me. She said it was because we weren't working out anymore but I know she really dumped me for Harrell Gregg.
I hear a text notification (probably from the group chat) and reach for my phone when my mom walks in.
"Me and your dad are living in 5 minutes, but before we go I just wanted to say bye."
She reached over to hug me. My mom gives the most awkward hugs, where she crushes your arms with her arms and you can't move until she lets go and I'm just left standing there for 5 minutes.
Which is the time she should be leaving.
She finally let's go. "Just be careful here all alone and don't break anything, ok?"
"Yup , I promise."
(This actually isn't a lie since I won't be the one breaking anything.)"Ok, I love you." She walks to the door.
"Love you too." I listen to her walk down the stairs and into the car.
Finally.
But it's too soon cuz my dad is walking into my room next.
"We're about to leave. I just wanted to remind you of the rules, ok?"
Not this again.
Since they first said they were leaving, my dad has made this huge list of rules for me to follow, which I won't be by the way.
"No it's all good. I think I remember them by heart now..."
"No, that's not enough I think you need one last remainder"
I sigh. "Ok..."
My dad clears his throat and stands up as he recites his speech.
"No drugs, no drinking, no smoking, no more than 6 friends over at a time, no using the car, no parties, no breaking anything, no staying up later than midnight and you can't go out of town."
Honestly, what was it with my parents and me breaking things.
I laugh a little knowing that I'm going to break at least half of these rules.
"Ok, dad I get it."
My dad starts to leave when he turns around to remind me. "Promise you won't have any other friends over than you already said?"
I look my dad straight in the eyes and say, "I promise."
Which is the biggest lie ever.
But for some reason I feel this certain satisfaction when lying, as creepy as that sounds.
My dad finally leaves and I hear the car start, pull out of the long drive way and drive down the road.
"YOOOOHOO!" I yell as loud as I can. It might be just me but I feel like I have to do that every time I'm home alone, it just feels right.
I look around my room when I realize my friends have been texting me frantically this entire time. I pick up my phone and see that I have 99 messages from the group chat all them wondering if my parents are gone.
