Letting out a small sigh, Kalani sipped her warm tea as she stared out into the muggy streets. The small coffee shop that she was currently in gave off an inviting smell, but having already been there for at least two hours, Kalani knew that it was time to leave.

As she stood up from the comfortable leather seat, Kalani began to pack her books back into her bag, throwing it over her shoulder. Grabbing her half-drunken cup of peppermint tea, she turned around to give the cashier a wave goodbye.

"Mulțumesc pentru vizită.*" The cashier said with a polite smile, one to which Kalani returned. "Have a nice day."

"No, thank you." Kalani replied, holding up her cup. "This was a life saver. Goodbye." Turning around, Kalani pushed the glass door open as she walked back outside.

It was a bit warmer today, but a slight breeze sent a chill up Kalani's back, making her thankful that she remembered to wear a jacket. She continued to sip her tea as she walked, and she only made past an open bazaar when her phone rang, making her jump.

Mumbling a small string of curses, Kalani dug into her bag to try and find her phone, and once she made contact with the device, and pulled it out. The number that flashed across her screen was one she had never seen before, and she could tell by the numbering that it wasn't a local number.

"Hello?" She asked as she continued to take another sip of her tea, not knowing who the caller was.

"Hello, who's this?" The other person asked. The voice sounded male.

"Uh... my name is Kalani." Kalani hesitantly replied, furrowing her eyebrows the more she got confused at this conversation. "Who's this?"

"Oh, my name is Ste– you know what, I think that I have the wrong number." The man replied with an embarrassed laugh. "I'm sorry for wasting your time."

"Don't worry about it." Kalani replied, looking to the sky as dark clouds began to loom over head. "If you don't mind me asking, who were you hoping to reach?"

"Just an old friend." The man replied, and he pulled the phone away to answer someone in he background. "I'll let you go now, sorry for calling."

A smile formed on Kalani's face at the politeness of the stranger, and she hummed lightly in response. "It's okay. Goodbye."

"Bye." The man replied, and with that being said, they both hung up, Kalani placing her phone back into her bag.

Bringing her cup up to her lips for another taste, Kalani soon realized that her tea was in fact gone. She let out a small sigh of disappointment, and she went to throw the empty cup away in a nearby trash can. And as she did this, thunder boomed over her.

Rain drops slowly began to fall in front of her as she continued her journey, and she looked up to the sky with a small smile on her face. The smell of rain always calmed her down, though the thunder and lightning always seemed to frighten her slightly. While she enjoyed listening to the rain as she snuggled on her small couch, she always hated the sound of thunder.
