Beep. Beep. Beep. Beep.

The heart monitor beeped in a steady rhythm, reflecting Dipper's heartbeat in a jagged green line on the screen.
The sound awoke Dipper and he opened his ice blue eyes.
He was in some sort of room in the hospital, laying in a bed with mint green blankets.
Wires were attached to his arms, allowing a clear liquid to enter his system.

Mabel and Will sat on chairs either side of his bed, Will almost fainting when Dipper woke up.

"Dipper! You're awake!" Mabel half-shouted, latching onto her twin, who let out a slight wince.

"Don't you DARE scare me like that again!" she hissed, letting go after what seemed like eternity.

Will cried silently.
Dipper looked at Will.

"Will, stop crying, it's going to be fine. It should pass" Dipper assured Will in a firm voice.

"O-okay" Will managed to choke out as he wiped his tears.

The demon looked submissive at Dipper's 'order', but knew the male meant it in kindness.

A soft knock at the door sounded outside Dipper's room, making all three inhabitants look up as the door handle rattled.

Will trembled when the door opened, fearing the worst, but it wasn't a stranger; it was a doctor.

The doctor who entered the room was young, about 23, with straight brown hair. He wore a pair of spectacles and a black suit beneath his lab coat, a stethoscope dangled around his neck.

His facial expression was serious.

"What's your diagnosis, Doctor Green?" Mabel asked as Dr Green walked up to Dipper's bed, a grave look on his face.

"W-What's wrong?" Will stuttered.

Doctor Green looked at his notes, then back at the patient and visitors.

"I'm afraid I have some bad news. Mr Gleeful's condition is worsening. It's terminal, I'm afraid" he told them.

Will gasped.

Mabel looked as if she was about to faint, but Dipper frowned.

"How long have I got?" Dipper inquired, wincing again as he moved to sit up.

Doctor Green looked hesitant.

"Two weeks."

"What?!" Mabel blurted. She put a hand to her mouth, shocked, as she tried to hold back a sob.

Will hid his face in his hands.

"I'm very sorry, we are doing what we can. If you need my assistance don't hesitate to find me, in any way" the doctor told them before he exited swiftly.
