I hummed a tune as I painted my nails, looking out of my window. I was sitting in my room upstairs listening to Faith Evans song, Soon As I Get Home.
I heard footsteps approaching my door and it quickly opened. "Ari!", I heard one of my best friends yell.
I giggled and wobbled over to hug her. "Hey, Nikki".
Nicole, or Nikki as we sometimes call her, as been my best friend, along with Kim, Tiffany, and Rose, since we were in preschool. We have a very tight bond.
"Girl, there's this party going on in Compton tonight. We have to go. We might even meet some sexy eye candy", she wiggled her eyebrows.
I shook my head. "I don't think that's a good idea. There's a lot of Crips in Compton and if they find out who we are-"
"They're not"
I was hesitant because my family, well really my stepfather's people, are in the Bloods gang. Even though I'm not blood related to him, which I'm happy about, I'm still affiliated with them cause they're technically my family.
"Ok, I'll go"
"Yes! Ok get dressed, I'll meet you downstairs"
She left my room and I blew out air from my mouth. Hopefully this ends well.
