Chapter Five: Working with Hackles

§Cassie's POV§

Beep!

Beep!

Beep!

BEEEEEEEP!!!

I slammed my tired hand down on this acres hung device, turning the awful noise off. I sat up and looked at the time.

"9:40." I groaned.

I reluctantly got out if bed and went to do my bathroom business. Shower, hair, teeth. You know, the important hygienic stuff I do everyday.

I went over to my closet and grabbed the uniform I had to wear for the job and slipped it on. It fitted me like a glove and accented my curved which I was never comfortable showing off.

I slipped my converse on and tied them up. After that I grabbed my satchel, glasses just in case, and my car keys. I walk out the door after feeding and telling Bella goodbye.

I skipped down to my car then in mid-skip I stopped, remembering about yesterday's events. I am all the sudden not so happy to work.

I remembered how I have to work with Andrew. Why me!? Why me?

I hopped into my car and cranked it up, pulling out of my drive way and down the road for the 20 minute ride to my new job.

I arrived just on time as I walked in just as someone else in the same uniform walked out. Must be the other shift Cam told me about.

I looked around and saw some people here and there but not much...yet.

"Cassie. You made it." Cam cheered as he walked over to me.

"I wouldn't want to let a job slip pass my fingers." I said, sending a sly smile towards him.

'Ring!'

"Hackles! Your a minute late! Don't let it happen again. We have a business running here."

"Sorry, Cam. I had to stop by the gas station on the way here." He explained.

His eyes caught mine as I saw his eyes look me up and down. Head to toe. A small smirk was applied to his face as he stretched and yawned.

Great, now what's he planning.

"How would I know? I barely know the guy more less than I know you." Cam said.

"Wait, was I thinking out loud again?"

"Again? Well yeah I guess you were."

"Dammit. I need to gain control of that."

"You sure do... Well Cassie your going to me serving food today and we will see how it works out. You'll also be taking orders. Hackles-"

"It's Andrew ya know?"

"I don't care! Hackles, your in charge of the front desk. Lead people to their table and give then a menu, maybe some crying for the kids." He explained before walking off.

I looked back to Andrews direction and his smirk was still there.

"What's with your face?"

"Oh nothing."

"I'm onto you, Hackles."

"You'll be on me tonight in bed for sure, Brie."

"Nah, I'm good. Thanks for the offer though."

I noticed that for once in his life, he looked super hot. He was wearing a button-up white shirt with black dress pants and a light yellow apron that went around his waist. He looked nice.

"Is someone checking me out. Don't forget our bet, Cassie."

"N-no," I lied. " why would I fall for your ass?"

"There's a whole list of them, Cass."

"Cass?"

"It's your nickname for me."

"Kill me now."

I disengaged my conversation with the boy and walked over to the kitchen to grab a note pad and penicillin so I could write people's orders down.

When I came back out, Andrew was already leading a small family to a table. I sigh but put on a smile and walked over to them.

"Hi, welcome to Gingies! How may I help you today?"

The mother looked up at me before she looked back down at the menu and spoke.

"I would like to have The Morning starter, minus the eggs."

"Ooookay. And what about your two youngsters?"

"She said she wanted a blue berry pancake," she said pointing the the one next to her. "And this one can tell you."

"Huh, oh, I would like two waffles please with hash browns on the side, please."

"Alright, and what to drink?"

"Milk, sweet tea and,"

"Water."

"Okay. Your orders Gould be out soon."

That was a lot easier than I thought it would be. I walked over to the kitchen and tore the piece of paper off and clipped it to a string with other orders on there.

There were several more people who came in as I took care of them all before going back to the kitchen to go get the tray of food for the small family.

I walked carefully over to them dodging small kids running to the bathroom and the parents following them. I finally made over to their table and saw that they are still there.

"I'm sorry for the wait. One I'm still new to this and two it's really busy today. Okay to we have The Morning Starter," I set her food the front of the mother. "The Blue berry pancakes," I set then infringe of her as she smiled at me. "And last but not least the waffles with hash browns on the side?" I set them in front of the teenage boy as he said his thanks to me.

I handed them all their drink. "If there's anything else you folks need, just let me know, okay?"

"We'll be sure to, Ma'am. Thanks for the wonderful service."

"It's all my pleasure." I said before walking off to Andrew.

"So how's your job going?"

"It's far to easy, Cass. And boring."

"Awe, too bad for you," I teased. "But you look decent today."

"Thanks. I think. And you," I swear I saw him blush before he turned away. "You look cute."

"Thanks."

'Ring'

I put my smile on again for the customer and greeted them.

"Hi welcome to Gingies--"

I opened my eyes and they met his.
