I looked at my ring and smiled. “Luke?” I asked. He looked at me expectantly. “Where did you get the money for all of this? The ring, the cafe... four days in a decent hotel. And you live in Buck head! That’s where the rich people live.” I said “I inherited some money recently from so family I didn’t know I had. Well I knew I had them I just had never met them. Tehy were rich and wore and had the best of everything” He sighed. “Who were they?” I pushed. Luke sighed again and kept going. “They were on my father’s side. As you know last year when I was 15 my dad died of an overdose. I had gone back earlier to see how everything was and know one was there. I went up to my old room just to check things out and there was knock on the front door. When I answered it there was a tall man and old woman. My grandmother and her lawyer.”

“What did they want?” I asked. “I’m getting there! Don’t interrupt.” Luke sighed and got quiet for a minute. “The man asked me who I was. And being a minor in a crack house I didn’t answer. Even though I didn’t live there they could still have taken me. The old woman stepped into the house and looked around. She sneered at the place and said that the old bastard didn’t clean before he died. She was his mother. I asked them what they wanted and the old lady looked  at me. “I know who you are but you don’t know who I am. I am your grandmother. Your father’s mother. We have never met before because according to your father I was a bad influence. But honestly I think we both know who that is now. I know that you don’t live here, you left when you were 14. Your father called me too tell me it was my fault but I’m not sure how it was. I wasn’t ever allowed to meet you and your other nine siblings. But now that your pea brained father is dead and you aren't on drugs anymore.” “I stopped her when she said that.” Luke spit. “I never did drugs. It killed my Dad and 3 of my sisters. I never touched the stuff.”

I’ve never seen Luke like this. We were in his truck and his eyes were wide and teary his hands were turning white from gripping on the steering wheel so hard. He began to speak again. “ I set her straight on the drug thing. And then she kept talking.”

“ I want to help you luke.” she said “ Your father inherited something of his father’s that he never used. He never cared about it. And now that he’s dead you can have it.” “What is it?” Luke said he asked. “Land. 4000 acres of pure land. And you can do what ever you want with it. That land also comes with money. But that will not be given to you until you are at least 20. I also want to fund you.”

Luke looked at me. “This woman is so loaded. I don’t know what she does but it makes her a lot of money. She gives me 3,000 dollars each month as long as I use it responsibly. Thats how I but my car and live in Buck head.”

“And the ring?” I asked

“It was in the family. It was my mom’s before she went all ape shit on me. I stole it from her when I was 10. Because I knew I would marry you.” He sighed

“ I love you.” I cried. Tears of joy were running down my face.

“I love you too.”
