Niall stared in awe at his college it was all he dreamed about, and he dreamed about it quite a lot, the big green areas with benches around it, surrounded by the big buildings, the corridors full of people, it was his dream and he was about to get it for real this time.
He felt so proud of himself when he got out of Louis' car and saw the University of London plaque right in front of him.
"Beautiful right?" Louis said while opening the car to get both of their things out
"Gosh Lou this is amazing" still in his place watching the building
"You know what would be even better? If you moved your pretty ass over here and helped me with the bags, thank you" Niall got out of his trance and helped Louis with his bags
When they were ready they walked to the office to when all the newbies had to be, to be assigned their rooms and schedules, Niall and Louis had to be separated because of their majors, Louis was in engineering while Niall had literature major.
It was such a luck that Louis, his best mate since he was 15, was interested in the same college that he was, because Niall would be lost without him, even now he wished Louis was in the same leg of the university as well so he didn't have to go alone, he was a bit shy but he charmed his way into Louis' life.
It was his sophomore year when his parents got divorce and his mother decided that it'd be better if they moved to Doncaster, it was a huge change in Niall's life but it was better for them. He met Louis a few days after he started school, they had five out of seven classes together but Niall just introduced himself and never talked again for the next days, not until the brown haired lad hit Niall in the face while he was talking to one of his mates with such an emotion that he hit Niall right in his left cheek without even meaning to do so, he apologized like fifteen times and Niall said it was fine like another fifteen, by the next day he had a black eye that his mother took care of the day before and a friend who clung onto him more than necessary. They became best friends pretty quickly, they hung out after school and during lunch, Niall was so grateful to have Louis by his side, even when people made fun of him when they found out Niall's passion was ballet, Louis made sure that it didn't get to him, and encouraged him to keep practicing it.
"Hey bub, you alright?" Louis was at his side looking a bit concerned, because he knew how shy the blonde could get "Everything's going to be alright, I'll be here okay? "
Niall nodded but still didn't say anything else
"Okay guys listen, I'm going to pin in the board the rooms for the ones that are staying in campus" a girl with brown curly hair said from a chair in front of them pointing at them the board beside her "I know you'd rather be rooming with your friends but in this University we have a different pattern, we room 3rd graders with the new students, it's a system we have to help you to get enrolled with the college activities better, so go ahead and check your room, the name of your roommate will be there too"
Niall felt the panic rush through his skin again, he had hoped that the luck would be on his side and he had the chance to room with Louis but now he had to cope with some guy that was older than him that probably would make fun of him too for his ballet.
He managed to get an scholarship for dancing because he was quite good, his mother took him when he was five years old to a karate class but right next to that class was the ballet class, the first day that he went to karate training he spent most of the time watching through the door the girls around his age dancing and he fell in love with it, the karate teacher told his mother that it'd more helpful if he changed classes.
Niall was so excited when his mother told him that he would be going to ballet instead, but the girls at practice were giving him funny glances, he shook it off and continued going to his classes, he was natural at it, so the instructor gave him a place in the spring presentation, he did so good that everyone clapped at the end, he kept practicing hours and hours every day until he mastered every move, even when the boys at Doncaster made fun of him he kept doing what he loved.
Louis and Niall made a deal, if Louis went to all the presentations that he had, Niall would be cheering for his friend at every game, and it worked pretty good for them at the end, because Louis got a scholarship for football and Niall got one for dancing, they helped each other and it worked for them, so Niall only hoped that University wouldn't change that
"Listen bub, everything is going to be okay, I promise, we will be in the same building and if you don't like your roommate you can always come to mine or we can hang out in the common room okay?" Louis said to calm his friend
"Louis I... what if he makes fun of me?" Niall said biting his lip
"Listen to me bub, he has everything to lose if he does that because the policy of this school is totally against bullying, besides do you remember what we talked about the whole summer? About standing up for yourself?" said Louis looking for Niall's eyes who kept his head low
"I want this to work out Lou, this is everything I've dreaming of" Niall said finally looking up at Louis
"I know bub and guess what? It'll work out, I'll make sure of it"
They made his way through all the bodies and checked the board
"Found mine" said Louis "228, and my roommate is someone called Nicholas Grimmshaw"
"Mine's 213, at least we are in the same floor" said Niall smiling faintly at Louis
"Who's your roommate?" said Louis grinning
Niall gave the board one last before saying "Someone called Liam Payne"
