The smell of spaghetti, filled Alec's lungs as he opened his eyes, and became aware of where he was. He sat up quickly, looking at where he was. It was an unrecognizable apartment, to Alec.

The other person in the apartment, realized Alec woke up, and rushed over.

"Oh, you're finally awake!"

Alec realized the man is Magnus Bane. Of course, they met just before Alec moved to the New York institute.

Alec cleared his throat, staring at Magnus.

"Oh, you fainted or whatever earlier so I brought you to my apartment."

Magnus sounded casual, as if it was normal for stranger's to pass out for no reason. But-Alec did not question it.

Nodding, Alec raised an eye brow at the food, cooking.

Magnus raced over there, before it could burn. He laughed foolishly, and finished making it.

After a short time, Alec had sat up and was staring into space, and Magnus had put the spaghetti on plain white plates.

Magnus brought a plate over to Alec, then sat next to him, with his own. They ate in silence that was neither awkward or comfortable.

"So, how is your friend?"

"What?"

"Your friend. The one who is a shadowhunter."

"Oh. She's good."

Magnus said it as if it were a far away topic, as if it were distant and not real. Alec, knowingly decided not to pressure him about it.

"So, tell me about yourself, Magnus Bane."
Magnus smiled as if it were an old question he finally answered.
"Well, Alexander Lightwood, you'll just have to stick around to find out. Won't you?"

Alec groaned, but internally was hoping he'd be able to know this guy.

"Okay. Just don't do anything stupid."

Magnus nodded, Alec stood from his spot on the couch and walked to the door silently. No words were exchanged while Alec slid the door open and shut soft. Magnus sat in silence and emptiness.

"C-clary." Jace choked.

Jace had searched, but how could he? His mouth was dry and everything was choked out, and tears threaten to spill. People tried to sooth him, in emotionless, heartless voices, making him feel like he had been punched in the stomach.

Clary would've been fiercer than he was being. He screamed into the night air, the coldness making him feel like air was escaping his lungs, drowning in a ocean.

It all made him unbearably burdened with pain. Jace almost thought he'd never get rid of it, the heavy heartache, the part where she might never be found, he'd never love again.

Jace cursed himself, for being so insanely, carelessly in love with her.

Cold hands touched his arms, making him flinch.

"Go away Ale-"

Jace stopped mid-sentence, seeing closely who it is.

"c-clary?"

Before she had time to say anything else, Jace had scrambled over and pressed his mouth go hers. Letting his emotions flow freely out of him, as he could only do with Clary. After it was over, Jace held her in his arms, tightly.

"Please don't do that ever again, Clary."

"I'm sorry, Jace. I-I was scared."

"Of what?"

Clary shook her head, burying her head. Jace ignored the problem, finally allowing air to flow through his lungs, relaxing into Clary.

"I love you."

The note slid under Alec's window, barely sliding it. It was early, and Alec was exhausted. Now what?

It was the one of the many occasions, while Alec woke up, and a note sat on his window, waiting to be read.

Alec sighed, exhaustedly. He slid his feet lazily across the floor to the window.

Scrawled on the paper, was a address to the café. Alec, ripped it to shreds, and slid it in his pocket, making note to toss it in the fire later.

He quietly pulled on a slightly ruined blue sweater, and dark pants. He pulled on his boots, quietly exiting the institute.

The air was cool, as Alec walked up to the café almost stranded from everywhere else. Alec had no idea why Magnus had him meet him here, ever since that day they met officially.

Alec shrugged it off, emerging into the almost vacant café, eager for coffee. He spotted Magnus. Magnus in sequins cloths and golden colors. His hair sparkled with blue.

Alec's heart stopped, skipping a beat before his legs started walking. Nothing communicated with each other; his legs moved but his mind was detached from his body.

He reached the table, sitting across from Magnus. Magnus slid a coffee cup, across the table to Alec. Alex tried to smile, a blush still plastered on his flustered face.

Magnus looked at him cautiously. Ignoring whatever had happened, Magnus started to talk.

"The sun looks nice when it's coming up in the morning..." Magnus said quietly.

His voice was quieter, and more sincere sounding in the morning hours.

"So... You woke me up at dawn, to look at the sun?" Alec questioned.

"No, of course not."

"Then what? You don't look well. Probably should get more sleep, Magnus."

"I don't know what to do. I can't be her best friend. She'll learn about what I am, and hate me. I can't stand it."

"Don't. Magnus, don't leave her alone. You're the only stable thing in her life. If she actually loves you, she'll want you there for her."

Magnus nodded, sitting silently for a moment. Then, he shifted in his seat restlessly.

"She doesn't love me like that." Magnus mumbled more to himself than anyone.

But, Alec heard it loud and clear. He locked his eyes with Magnus's.

"She doesn't have to. There are people who already love you so much it hurts them."

Magnus forced himself to look away from Alec's beautiful, pure, innocent, blue eyes that pierced him like sharp knives and sleep all at once.

Nothing would compare. Nothing.
