Alec returned the shadowhunter just in time for the deadline. It changed nothing, of course. They would never take him back, and he can't help but feel lost. Emptiness.
It was another day of the week, boring, moodless. Nothing there. Just a coffee cup in Alec's pale hands. Then it had happened. Awhile ago, Alec had gotten a phone for no apparent reason, seeming he never used it. Not often.
The cell phone buzzed in his pocket, ringing crazily. It took ten rings to get the phone out, and accept the call with shaky hands.
"Hello?"
"Is this Alexander Lightwood?"
"Yes."
"If you would like, we'd love to have you here in New York."
Alec nodded before realizing whoever it was, couldn't see him.
"Okay."
"We'll be there to get you soon. No need for much."
"Okay. Thank you."
They hung up. Alec took the phone from his ear, and shoved it back in his jean pocket. He set the coffee down on the window sill, carefully. Alec found himself packing and unpacking multiply times. No clue how long it took, at all. He ended up with taking almost nothing. Just his bow and arrow on his back(the only thing they let him keep), and his phone. Alec realized he didn't actually have much. No personal items.
It made him think. Alec fell to the floor, in the middle of the 'house'. How it had to be, of course. 18 years old and no personal items, really. Why has there really not been any real memories for Alec? He didn't have time to ponder further, because they were here. In his living room, by the door. Alec felt his face flush, forced his legs to pull himself off the ground, and stand up straight. Alec forced a nod toward the two people.
Alec only just had a good look at them. A girl; red fiery hair all black gear, a boy; golden hair it seemed, black gear as well. Alec walked soundlessly toward them. The boy started to walk, signaling for Alec to follow. He did.

They entered the Institute, Alec greeted by various people. He began to wonder why they want him here. He pushed it away, and listened to the boy talk and tell about the institute. Alec listened, focusing on the words, and remembering everything said.
"Sorry. I'm Clary and Jace is the one who was explaining to you. He seemed to forget introduction... again." Clary exclaimed, rolling her eyes but smiling.
Alec nodded awkwardly. It was new, and he was only exhausted. Eventually, he was shown to his room in the institute. He said his goodbyes, and closed the door. He put on what they offered. Thankfully, was a dark gray sweater, and sweat pants.
Alec, climbed under the warm invitingly comfortable blankets. His eyes closed, sleep began to get closer and closer to him, pulling him in. Drifting away from reality, and into sweet dreams of the night and day.
