Chapter One: Training

*Master Splinters pov*

I know that someday Shredder will find my hideout, I'm not sure when but I do know it is soon to happen.

Two years ago was the day it all went done, I lost everything. My beautiful wife, my adorable daughter, my suitable home, it was all gone all because of him. I needed an escape so I headed to New York City to start a new life. I entered a pet-store and adopted four turtles. I carried them in a container while walking down the streets of NYC when I was stopped by a group known as, the purple dragons, feared by many people. We were attacking each other until the jar of turtles fell into a puddle of green goo when the same thing fell on me. The four turtles changed from everyday regular turtles into new mutated turtles. I also changed from a human being to a giant mutated rat. That's when the purple dragons left in fear and shock. I wasn't sure what to do at that point after just being mutated, but one thing I knew at that time was I needed to go away from everyone or else I'd scare people away. I brought the baby turtles in the sewers where I was going to live. It was how I found my hideout in the sewers and where I started a new life.

I now treat the young turtles as my own children and they look up to me as if I'm their father. The turtles are all the same age now being two years old but their order of birth is different. Leonardo is the oldest of the four and wears a blue mask. I someday see him being the leader of the crew. Next there's Raphael who has the red mask. I can see him being the tough one who has an attitude, as it is already starting to show. Donatello is the turtle in a purple mask. He's very smart for his age and see him inventing things. Youngest of them all is Michaelangelo who wears the Orange mask. He is very crazy and loves to have fun. These four turtles are my sons and I'm going to need to train them to be ninjas soon just to prepare for whatever can occur in the future because you never know what could happen.

"My sons come here." I said.

The four turtles walked behind one another with smiles on their faces. "Yes?" They said in sync.

"I need to talk to you all about something."

"Why?" Donnie asked.

"Because it's important."

"What is it?" Leo asked

"I wanna whatch tv!" Raph shouted.

"Me two!" Mikey yelled.

"Shh!" I said. Silence filled the room as they all sat down on the floor in a small circle. "This is very important so please listen. I need to start training you boys to become ninjas-"

"Booyakasha!" Mikey shouted.

"Cwool!" Leo yelled.

"Nindja!?" Raph asked.

"Yes, I'm training you boys to become ninjas."

"Why?" Donnie asked.

"Because danger awaits in the future and I want the four of you to be prepared for whatever happens."

"What oou wean?" Leo asked.

"That story is for another time, let's just start training." I stated.

They followed me into the dojo and sat down as I stood in front of them with a box full of weapons.

"What's dat?" Donnie asked.

"It's your weapons." I stated.

"Cwool!" Raph shouted.

"Yes, it is," I said. "But it must only be used when training, or when actually fighting. Not to be used for fun to hit your brother's with when you're mad!"

"Oh." Raph said quietly.

"Now it's time to pick one out for each of you," I explained. "And remember don't pick the weapon, let the weapon pick you."

"Huh?" Leo asked.

"What dat eben mean?" Donnie asked.

"Cwool! what dhese!?" Mikey asked while picking up a pair of num-chucks while spinning them around.

"They're called num-chucks Michaelangelo." I said.

"I have dhem?" He asked still swinging them.

"Yes, if you feel that's what you'll do best with."

Donnie picked up a Quarter staff and tried flipping over it. He successfully did it the first time.

"Can my weapon be dis?" Donnie asked.

"Yes Donatello. That's called a quarter staff." I answered.

"dhese look fun!" Raph shouted while picking up a pair of twin sai's. "Can I have dhem?"

"Yes, just be careful. They're called sai's" I said.

Last was Leo who was still searching. He was looking for something just right then he pulled out twin katanas. He gave me this one smile then said, "Can I have dhese?"

"Yes you can Leonardo. They're called twin katanas."

I picked up the rest of the weapons in the box and put it back. I walked back out and my sons were patiently sitting down holding their new weapons waiting for me to begin teaching them how to become ninjas.

"My sons, before I begin teaching you how to become ninjas I just want you to know it's going to take years and years of practice. You're not going to get it all in one day, so we have to take it step by step. It's okay if you fail because everyone fails sometimes in their lives, you just get back up and keep trying. So are we ready to begin practice?" I asked.

"Yeah!"

"Okay, then let's begin." I said. "Wait, I forgot one very important thing. To be a ninja you can't let anyone see you so it's important to stay hidden as much as possible. Also you can't just start fights with random people. You have to make sure that there actually is danger or there's some other reason before attacking or else you could be caught which is something you never want to happen as a ninja. So now we can begin."

For the rest of the day I began teaching my sons how to fight like a ninja even though they're only two they learned a lot all in one day especially at a young age.
