April 8th, 2012|Dan's POV

(The song is just reminds me of this chapter, it kinda sets the mood for it, ya know?)

Finally after a few hours of dusting shelves, arranging antiques, and helping out costumers, I was done with work for the day. I had just recently got my job there, so I don't have to work there much. I'm going to get my actual job schedule and work hours next week.

"Bye Mr. Walsh, have a good day." I wave at him before exiting the door.

"You too, lad!" He hollers back with a chuckle. I give him a smile and enter into the rest of the mall.

Believe it or not, but as soon as I exited the pawn shop, some familiar blue eyes were staring back at mine. Just his presence was enough to lighten my mood a bit more. I don't know what this feeling is, but I like it. I don't know, it just really feels good to have someone that actually cares about what you're doing and wants to hang out with you, you know?

"Are you ready?" Phil asks, giving me a smirk.

I release a slight laugh as I respond "You actually waited for me?"

"Well of course, I'm really looking forward to this because I really want to get to know a person like you." He shyly says back, never breaking eye contact from me. I feel my face begin to blush.

Wait, what kind of person am I? And why would Phil want to get to know me? I'm the most boring person I know. Why me?

"Alright lets go then." I inquire, but as we were walking to the cafe I sighed and muttered under my breath:

"You're going to be very disappointed.."

Sooner or later we made it to the cafe and sit at a little table for two near a window. I stare at the sky as Phil takes his order.

"Dan, what do you want?" Phil asks, making me escape from my day dream and back into reality. As I stare at him, I notice the bronze glow around the outer edges of my eyesight, the same glow that usually appears in my mind every time I enter this cafe.

What's happening to me?

I tightly shut my eyes, trying so hard for the glow to go away. Why is it in my vision? Why isn't it in my mind?

"Dan, are you okay?" Phil asks, concern in his eyes. I immediately snapped my eyes open, not realizing what I was doing.

I clear my mind and shake my head. "Green tea latte, please."

Phil and I had a light small-talk before our drinks arrived, and once they did, we started to actually get to know each other.

"So, how's college life?" Phil asks as the gently sips his coffee, those ocean blue eyes never looking away from me. I've never really seen eyes like Phil's before. I mean, I feel like everyone's eyes are like fingerprints; each one is unique. But something about Phil's just gives me youthful and fresh vibes. Hmph.

"Its, okay I guess." I mutter, "What about you? How old are you?" I inquire, wanting to avoid talking about me, since there isn't much to talk about.

"Oh! I'm 21." Phil answers, coming back with the same question, "What about you?"

Great, he's going to think that I'm just a kid.

"I'm 19." I respond, trying to avoid looking at Phil's expression.

Phil just nods and takes a sip of his coffee, he looks as if he wants to say something. I simply nod at him, sort of a sign that it's okay to say whatever it is he wanted to say.
