A/N: If you have the chance, you should check out my other books, My Enemy and Flames.  I posted six brand new chapters of My Enemy yesterday.  Anyways, here's chapter six.

-Akayba

That night, I got out of bed and threw up twice.

My mom never came home because she went out with friends after work and stayed the night with one them.  She called to let me know but I didn't mention that Alex was at the house.  He called his mom to tell her, though.

Somehow during the middle of the night, he fell off the bed.

It woke me up and I leaned over to see him grabbing more and more of the blanket, making me colder.

Why doesn't he just get back on the bed?  I took a pillow and hit him with it, laughing.  He glared at me and got up.

He went into the bathroom and came back out shortly.  I started coughing really hard and loud and he ran back into the bathroom and came out with a cup of water.

He sat on the edge of the bed and handed me the water.   When the cough attack finished, I spoke.

"Thanks.  I think I might be getting sick."

"Sounds like it.  Do you need anything else?"

"No, I'm just really tired.  Can we go back to sleep?"

"Yeah, scoot over," he instructed.  He stayed me all night to make sure I was okay.

I woke up again but this time the sun was shining in my face.  I didn't remember pulling my shades.  "Rise and shine, sleepyhead!" yelled my mom.

"Uhh, hey mom, what's up?"

"Well, honey, you've been sleeping awhile."

"Oh, my god I'm missing school!" I yelled as I looked at the time on my phone.

"No need to worry, hon, I called you in sick.  You're excused."

"I've had quite a few sick days the past couple of days, huh?" I wondered out loud.

"You sure have, baby."

"Where did Alex go?"

"Umm, I believe to school... why are you asking that?  Oh my god, was he here?" she starts to fangirl.

"Yeah, he came to check on me," I lied.  "He was here when I fell asleep."  I felt bad for lying to her, but she couldn't know he stayed the night, although I was sure it would get out since he told his mom.

I texted him.

Sam: Hey, when did you leave?

Alex: When I heard the front door shut.  I climbed out the window.

Sam: OOOOOOOOHHHH you're such a rebel. lol. Thank you for yesterday.

Alex: Don't forget it was a one time thing.  I felt sorry for you.

Sam: I know and I don't want your pity.

Alex: Whatever

I got out of bed and hopped in the shower.  When I was done, I went downstairs and got some water.

"Hey, Sammie."  I looked up to see Addie sitting on my couch watching Shrek.

"Hey, Addie, whatcha doin here?"

"I don't have school and my mom has work and Alex has school.  Your mom left a couple minutes ago and said you would watch me."

Did she now?

"Oh, okay.  You hungry?" I ask.

"No, I ate at home."  She turns back to the tv and doesn't say anything else.

Later that day, there was a knock at the door.

Addie and I played makeup and she got to do mine.  My face was such a mess.  I open the door to find Alex standing there, smoking.  "Hey," he greets, trying not to laugh.  "Is Addie here?"

"Yeah she's watching tv.  I'll get her."

They went home and I went upstairs to take a nap.

Tap. Tap.  I heard a sound at my window.  I looked out to see Alex about to throw a rock.  He saw me and motioned for me to come down.

What could he possibly want at two in the morning?

I closed the front door behind me and saw him by my porch, kind of staggering.

"Heeeeeeey, Babe," he slurred.

"Are you drunk?" I questioned.

"And high," he added.

"Oh, my god.  Why?"

"I don't know.  To get rid of the empty feeling.  My arms hurt."

"Let me see them."  I reached for his arms and he pulled them away.  You can't see the scars.  I won't let you!" he yelled.

It started to rain.  Hard. It felt like tiny bullets.

"Alex, show them to me," I yelled through the rain.

I grabbed him and lifted his hoodie arms to see cuts and scars.

"Oh, my god, Alex.  What happened.  Did you do this to yourself?"

"Yes."  He looked ashamed.

He was really wet from the rain.  "Come inside," I told him.

"I can't.  I can't be around you.  I got rid of my depression and when you showed up, it came back.  I don't even know why."

"Alex, just come inside."  I pulled him along with me up the steps and open the door for him.  He just stood there.  I pushed him inside.  We were completely alone since my mom had to work the night shift.
