Chapter 4: Cookies and Rogues?

I looked at the daisies I tied together into a headband, softly pacing it on her head she looked at me with awe. “I think it’s time for me to go to bed, I’ve had a long day. I will play with you all day tomorrow, okay?”

She jumped up and hugged me. I was shocked that she didn’t knock me down, but smiling softly I wrapped my arms around her and closed my eyes. She squeezed me and whispered, “Thank you Jas, Goodnight.”

I kissed her softly on her chubby cheek, “goodnight Sophie.”

I didn’t know where I was, all I know was that I was warm and whatever I was laying on was so soft. I was obviously asleep but where? I didn’t want to open my eyes at the moment so I decided to use my senses. I took a deep breath; I could smell the morning breeze and the forest. Okay, that’s a start. I listened intently to the outside, kids? People laughing? Where the hell am I? Suddenly there was a knock on the door which made me snap my eyes open and stare at it with fear.

“Jas? Are you awake? I have a little girl that’s about to explode with excitement if you don’t come out here soon.” I could hear Tyler chuckle making me take a deep breath of relief. 

“Come on in!” I hollered just in case he couldn’t hear me.

Sophie came rushing in as fast as she could and jumping on my bed, tackling me with a hug. She put pressure on my shoulder that my father dislocated the other day which caused me to flinch. Tyler noticed it widened his eyes and came rushing to pull her off, but I shook my head signaling him I was fine. He watched me warily. 

“GOODMORNING JAS!!!! WHAT ARE WE DOING TODAY? YOU PROMISED ME WE COULD HANG OUT ALL DAY!” Sophia shouted in my ear. 

I giggled, “Why don’t I get ready then we can have breakfast, and maybe make cookies? Does that sound okay?” I asked.

She giggled and jumped up and down in my arms, “YES YES YES! YOU HEAR THAT TY? COOKIESSSSSS!” I laughed and started tickling her on the bed making her laugh more.

“Why don’t you go get dressed and I’ll meet you in the kitchen?” I said.

She nodded eagerly and ran out the room to hers. I looked at Tyler and saw he had a huge smile on his face making him look so cute. 

“What are you smiling about?” I asked curiously.

He scratched his chin while watching Sophia run down the hallway, “Well she doesn’t really act like that to anyone but me...It’s shocking.” He said.

“Why wouldn’t she act like that to anyone else? She’s so adorable!” I said happily.

“Well she’s my daughter, and my mate passed away in a car accident. Ever since then she hasn’t really opened up to anyone other than me.” He said sadly.

I walked over to him and cautiously put my arms around his waist to give him a warm but comforting hug, “I’m sure she would be proud of what you did with Sophia.” 

He chuckled softly, “I hope she is, I love the little thing. She was a handful at first always asking for her mom, but she got over that. Now, she has me tell her bedtime stories about her mom.” 

I tightened my arms around him then slowly let go, “Well I bet your mate's happy where she is. Now, would you like to make cookies with me and Sophie?” I asked with a giant grin.

“Definitely.”

After having a nice shower I started to get dressed. I got dressed into a the new clothes Tyler had Casey buy for me which consisted of a loose floral blouse that had purple and blue floors all over it and a light wash pair of shorts.

I made my way down the stairs from what I remember when Casey showed me. It took me a while considering I went down the wrong hallway twice. Eventually I got close enough and heard the distinct giggle of Sophia and walked towards it, I finally found myself in the kitchen. What I didn’t expect was a mess. Tyler had Sophie standing on a stool so she could see what he was doing while he was mixing what I was hoping the right ingredients for the cookies. Flour was EVERYWEHERE! I don’t know what they did but I’m not cleaning it up.

“WHAT THE HECK HAPPENED IN HERE?” I half-yelled in disbelief.

Their heads snapped up so fast I thought they would get whiplash. We seemed to stare at each other for ten minutes until Sophia broke out into giggles, “JAS! Come look we started on the cookies!!”

With that I couldn’t help but let out a loud laugh which caused Tyler to join. I took a deep breath and wiped my eyes, “Well let’s see what you’ve done so far.” I walked towards both of them holding my hand out towards the bowl. 

I grimaced slightly trying to figure out what was in this bowl, “Hey! Why don’t we just start over so I can join the fun?” I asked trying not to make them feel bad.

“That sounds like a good idea!” Tyler laughed while sitting back and watching.

After re-making the batter for the chocolate chip cookies we put them in the oven, Sophia wanted to go outside and run around in her wolf form, while me and Tyler just sat around outside.

“Do you want to shift with me and Sophia? It would be nice to run around for a bit.” He asked sweetly.

I was hesitant I always got called ugly cause of my wolf form. 

‘Just go shift, he will love it.’ My wolf urged.

‘Fine but if I get my feelings hurt it’s your fault.’ I said

“Sure Tyler” I said with a smile. I walked over to a tree and he walked to the other, I started to take my clothes off and fold them in a pile. I focused on my wolf, her big paws, large face and of course, pure white wolf. Before I even realized it I was in wolf form, I stretched like a cat and shook my fur out. I cautiously walked around the tree only to see a small red wolf and a big black one, which were obviously Sophia and Tyler. They were both gorgeous. 

Sophia seemed to perk up when she saw me cause she yelped and wagged her tail happily. Tyler slowly took his time to admire my wolf form and you could see his wolf’s eyes turn darker, that had me shiver with pleasure. He must have noticed it because he growled lowly. I snapped out of it when Sophia like my face and ran around me. I gave a wolfish laugh and started to playfully nip and chase her around. Tyler soon joined in and nipped my ears while I nipped at his paws.

We played like that for a while till I heard something off in the distance which cause me too stop. I focused more onto the sound and I could hear wolves, maybe 2 of them, running closer. From what I could tell they were close. My eyes widened I looked at Tyler and saw him looking at me then I saw Sophia chasing a butterfly. I caught a glimpse of brown. 

Rogues.
