Chapter 8

Serena's POV

Ohhh man, I can't believe we came in third. Misty's team had managed second place, while that greenie got the first.

On top of that, I has to agree to that strange boy's demand in order to get the point. This sucks.

Professor Sycamore called everyone back and announced the winners. Team Oshawatt  in first place i.e. the guy with the green hair and his teammate, a girl with dirty blonde hair get five points. I wonder where their other teammates are. Team Squirtle gets three points while we get a single. All other teams get zero points.

Today's activity was over. All of us met up at the back of the amphitheater. Ash and Gary were pretty sad, Misty was quite happy. Team Oshawatt then came up to us.

"My name is Cilan. It's a pleasure to meet you, Ash Ketchum" he says.

Wait did this guy know Ash?!

Ash then asks," How come you know my name?"

He replies," I am a Gym leader in the Unova Region and also the Junior Undersecretary for the World Pokemon Association. I was posted in Sinnoh for a while, and managed to watch your battle against that Latios. Truly Commendable, I must admit. I was surprised to see that you came in third place today."

Gary then butts in saying," How come everyone is appreciation that battle? I can beat Ash any day any time and the Latios would've been a breeze if I was there. Ash just contributed to loss today, didn't you Ashy boy??"

I couldn't stand this. It was no fault of Ash's! Wait, he didn't blame me? Why should I give a damn? I think.

Cilan then speaks up," You shouldn't blame your mate for the loss. You can make it up next time. And it's your job as team mates to work more to make up for the same. Have a peek at my team. You must be wondering that why are there just the two of us? Grace wakes me up in the morning, saying one of our team me beers wasn't there. We searched all over but couldn't find him. And the other guy was just too lazy. He told us to get the hell out and let him sleep. Yet we worked twice as hard and bagged the first place."

We stood there in awe. The two of them beat everyone else, and weren't even complaining about the effort. I guess you have to learn this stuff.

Ash's POV

I just stood there frozen. Both is them totally beat us to it. And Gary here is blaming me, even though I'm not responsible. Oh, I wish he was more mature.

The girl then holds out her hand toward me, saying," Hey! I'm Grace and this is my buddy Oshawatt! Nice to meet ya. Cilan told me about you earlier today, and been wanting to meet ya since then."

Gary as usual jumps in and takes her hand," All my pleasure lady. I'm sure Cilan must've mentioned my battle too. He was watching it from a distance. Anyway, great to meet you."

"Ummm sorry, but who are you?" she replies.

"Wait you don't know me? The great Gary Oak? Grandson of Professeor Samuel Oak? I'm supposed to be huge you know!!"

I sigh. He was such an embarrassment to our team. Grace gives me a weird look as Gary steps back while the two shake hands with the rest. Gary then speaks in my ear," Ash boy, forget it. As I told ya, first I decide and take my pick. Then you can choose from the leftovers. So hands off!!!

Man, he was so immature. I didn't even  like these girls that way!

Cilan then says," We ll see y'all around then. We gotta gear up for tomorrow."

We all bid goodbye and head to our respective cabins. Then I swear to God, the most weird and embarrassing thing happens. Gary flings himself onto Dawn's bunk. He stays there like some captain of a ship. When Dawn asks him to get up, that idiot tells her that there is plenty of space next to him. I finally get him to get up, but Dawn says that her bunk is extremely smelly and she can't use it. So as usual, I get the butt of the stick. Gary permanently shifts to Dawn's bunk and Dawn to mine, and I guy my stuff over to Gary's messy, smelly bed. I pack his stuff and hand it to him, use some room freshener, throw out the sheet and jump on the bed.  I was in for a hard day.

Little later, when I am asleep, the asshole wakes me up. Says he wants to have a battle. This is the sort of thing. I tell him to shut up and just go sleep. Just because he can't sleep,he will use the opportunity to not let others do the same. 

A few hours after midnight, a sound wakes me up. Dawn is awake too. Gary is sleeping now, though Serena is stirring in her sleep.  Suddenly there is a huge grinding sound of a machine or something. It launches itself into our cabin. I get knocked outta the way, and I land right on the floor.

Serena's POV

Oh man, I was so tired that I slept off. Sometime after midnight, some sound woke me up. There was a sudden thud on my bed. I fell off my bunk and onto the floor. Something, no somebody was next to me. It was Ash! The entire floor was strewn with chunks of his broken bunk! There was a Rhydon, well a Rhydon machine which had broken into the cabin. Ash turned, facing me. Our faces were less than a inch apart. He looked flushed red. My face was brining away as well. He was just starting to apologise, when there was a shout. It was Gary. He jumped up and stepped on us. Obviously he didn't realise we were there. Dawn was my bunk. So she must've displaced me.

Gary clambered onto Dawn's bunk and takes out a pokeball. He looks mad. He releases his Nidoqueen.  It uses Tackle on the machine, but it doesn't even tremble. As Ash was trying to save Pikachu from the mess he was tangled in, the Rhydon fell over. Right behind it there was a Tyranitar. It used tackle once more, and the horn fell of. Then we could see 3 people sitting inside. Wait, 2 people. The other was too short to be a human. "Well what do you know?! It's Team Rocket!!! I swear these guys will follow me to heaven! It's nice to see you guys still on my tail, but couldn't we do this sometime else? Don't wanna blow you guys off right away.

A meow then started speaking in human tongue.

"Shut your trap twerp. We are following that Pikachu, not you!"

That's when those 3 started reciting some weird slogan. Right then the Tyranitar used Hyper Beam. It blew into our cabin and the Rhydon machine flew off, but we could see those three fell from the machine somewhere near the forest. Looks like we would be seeing them again.

The trainer called back the Tyranitar. We could now see it was Cilan. Ash got up, and managed to untangle Pikachu. I got up and woke up Dawn, who was slept through all this. All this time Gary was hankering about how he could've dealt with the machine if Cilan hadn't interrupted. Seriously, this guy needs some brains.

Cilan hurried over to us saying that he was trying to catch the Rhydon when he saw it from the window, but later realised it was a machine. We all went to the Professor. He was already awake. Apparently, Grace had gone to tell him about this. We told him that two of our bunks were broken. He was thinking of a suggestion to the problem when Ash interrupted, "Easy peasy! I ll take the roof. I like sleeping under the starts anyway." "I can adjust Serena in my bunk if that's okay. Dawn's bunk is smaller so that ain't a possibility." Gary says.

Seriously this guys was a doofus. Why couldn't we offer to trade with Dawn?!

"Well Serena you can sort out the problem by tonight. You are welcome to use the infirmary beds though. Lemme noe!" Professor Sycamore tells me.

Cilan then tell Gary to be manand offer to fade bunks with Serena. Gary does that with hesitation, but Dawn says that she won't cz Gary is apparently extremely smelly and messy and there was no way in hell she was gonna use his bed.

Well looks like I have to think of something myself.
