A/N: I wrote this during class while it was raining. It sparked an idea. This is an AU. Set during Zexion and Demyx's high school days. Enjoy!
He sat in the school library by himself, not really paying attention to the book in front of him. He knew that he wasn't alone, but he wasn't bothered to confront the blonde jock again. After all, this was the third time this week that the blonde was caught watching him.
With a sigh, he snapped his book shut and shook his curtain of blue hair from his face, briefly revealing his second blue eye before it fell back again. He stood up and walked towards a shelf, purposely walking near where the blonde was hiding.
"H-hello Zexion. Fancy seeing you here!" The blonde laughed slightly and leant against the bookcase a light blush tinting his cheeks.
"Yes, what a coincidence, Demyx." Zexion stated boredly, rolling his eyes as he put the book back onto the shelf, "Aren't you meant to be at school? Isn't the rugby tournament starting today?"
"It was. It got rained out." Demyx slipped easily into the convocation topic he liked, even if it was the opposite of the bluette's interests, "I don't see what the big idea is. A little rain never hurt nobody."
"Unless it was acid rain." Zexion poited out, scanning the shelves for another book.
"Y-you don't think it is acid rain, d-do you?" The blonde's eyes widnened as the bluette pulled another book from the shelf.
"You got here, didn't you? And by the look of things you didn't come the indoor way." He gestured to the wet state of the boy before walking away with the blonde at his heels.
"O-oh yeah." Demyx blushed and looked at his muddy trainers, "Didn't think about that."
"Obviously not."
"Say, aren't you meant to be at the science club?" Demyx asked, causing the bluette to run a hand through his hair.
"Vexen and Marly had another argument."
"Again? That's like the third time this week!"
"I know. They've been dating for four years though." Zexion shrugged, sitting back on the sofa, "They'll get past it."
"Speaking of relationships," Demyx sat on the arm of the sofa as Zexion opened the book on his lap, "A-are you seeing anyone?"
"No." The bluette answered, turning the page.
"Are you interested in seeing anyone?"
"No." Zexion sighed, "My last relationship didn't go too well."
"Oh." The blonde sounded disappointed and subconsciously slipped his hand into his pocket.
"You were going to ask me out, weren't you?" Zexion turned another page but didn't look up at the blonde.
"Uh-well-you see-"
"Yes."
"...Huh?"
"Yes, I'll go on a date with you. Do I need to spell it out?" The bluette raised an eyebrow, finally facing him.
"Well, here's my number." The blonde pulled out a scrap of paper where a few numbers were jotted down, "Um, I guess I'll text you then."
"Alright." Zexion nodded before turning back to his book, the paper tucked away in his pocket, "You might want to get going. It's getting late and the acid rain might fall soon."
"... You're kidding..."
"Yes I am." The bluette smiled slightly, "I'll see you tomorrow then."
"Uh, yeah." Demyx stood and smiled at the bluette, "See ya!"
He turned and left the library, leaving Zexion alone again.
Even though it was late and he should have been leaving, Zexion stayed. he didn't read the book that was in front of him, but instead he thought about what happened. The rain outside started to fall heavier but to Zexion, the library was the most comforting place.
