Commotion ch. 1

Chapter 1: Commotion

Class is absolutely boring.

That was the only thought on Avril's mind that morning. She was sitting in her usual seat by the window, with Edward and Winry next to her. The teacher was by the board lecturing the class about the American Revolution or something of the other. Avril didn't care, after all she's heard it all before even if it doesn't stick in her brain.

She stifled a yawn and was about to dose off when a crumpled paper landed on the wooden desk. She picked it up and soundlessly unravelled it.

'Wake up and pay attention! Btw have you heard the carnival's coming to town in two weeks? We should plan to go. Pass this to Ed when your finished.

Avril glanced at blonde haired girl and gave her a quick smile. Then she turned to Ed and threw the note on his desk, making sure to time it correctly or else she'd get caught.

Ed glanced at both her and Winry and nodded in his seat. Avril and Winry grinned to themselves and waited impatiently for the bell to ring.

"So the whole carnival get-together sounds pretty cool, right?"

It was after classes and the trio were on their lunch break. They were seated at their usual table by the cafeteria, waiting for Alphonse.

"Yeah of course it sounds good, girl! It'll be awesome to just hang out with you guys", Avril said happily.

Edward glanced around the cafeteria probably looking for his younger brother. "When is this again? I'm sure Al would-"

"Hey, brother! Sorry I'm late, I was just talking to Wrath about our notes", Al suddenly popped out from nowhere in front of the group. He waved at everyone and sat down next to his brother.

Avril got a little distracted by the name Wrath. After all, he is Envy's little brother along with Pride (A.K.A Selim), but Pride is still in elementary school.

"Al! The carnival's coming in a month and we were planning ahead to go there", Winry spoke up excitedly.

"Oh that sounds nice! So just the four of us?"

"Well maybe, but that depends if Roy and his crew wants to join us".

Edward scoffed at the mention of Roy's name.

"Tch... Who'd want that pyromaniac bastard hanging out with them? He's irritating!"

"You know, Ed, it's not nice to talk about people behind their backs", Roy appeared suddenly behind Ed, speaking in a silky tone.

"R-Roy! When the hell did you get there?" Ed asked surprised and annoyed at the teen's sudden appearance.

"Since just now" he slid in the seat opposite to Edward. The rest of his posse took it as their cue and soon Riza, Havoc, Fallman, Hughes, and Armstrong were seated as well.

"Who the hell invited you to sit with us?!" Ed asked even more annoyed and irritated than before.

"Edward! Be nice or so help me", Winry warned Ed, waving her malicious wrench at him. The blood drained from his head and he cowered in fear.

Avril just stared at the object in her friend's hand. "Winry... Why do you have a wrench to high school?"

"Because I have mechanics later on"

"Yeah but you do know that they have tool supplies in the cabinet, right?"

"I know. I just like my wrench, okay! Why do you always ask that whenever I carry it with me? We always go through this!"
